Period. I wish it wasn't going to come to this, but it seems that McCain/Palin are going to go for the full-out dehumanization of Obama. Not on just a political level, but a racial level. And, after having a visceral reaction to McCain's venom and gestures in pointing to Obama and saying that phrase, I just am not comfortable with joking about it, particularly after hearing about the "kill him" folks at Palin's rally. So, let's leave it be, however tempting it may be as political hay. Love.

1. Obama should just roll out "Still the One" as his walking music.
It would work really well. :)

8. Obama and his people are smart as hell. There's nothing these little pigs can do
that they can't handle -- except steal our votes.

Are you registered? Are you sure?! Check! Make your friends check! :hi:

16. Oy! don't say that here!
;)

It's sad because Dino Rossi's supporters are out for blood for the purported miscarriage of Justice in '04 in the commie breeding ground of King Co.

Oh well. I'll plunk another couple of hundred bucks down for a recount if necessary to keep Gregoire in.

7. well, I guess my question is...
can we slap silly all of the latent or not so latent racists who heard that tonite? I hear dog whistles all around. I have not been such a worry-troll up to this point but I am really not liking the track McCain is taking. This is beyond negative politics IMHO.

18. In the grand history of the Civil Rights movement
Okay, yeah, it may not be the MOST DRAMATIC MOMENT EVER, but after a week of "Hang 'em high" and "Can I help you find your seat in the BALCONY, BOY?" it did NOT go unnoticed.

Sorry, but the cat's out of the bag. It can be steered, it can be framed, but it's here to stay. I say laugh at it, but acknowledge it's a racist "memory" from McCain's past, and it's more proof that he's losing it. After all, if he cannot control himself at such an important moremnt, on a national stage, how can we trust him to carry himself properly in matters of state?

McCain's not a maverick, he's a loose cannon. We need a sharpshootin' gunslinger like Obama.

15. okay. hear me out here.
Yes, McCain's comment was stupid and laughable to most of us. But why do you brush it off so easily? I still stand that this should not be a jokey meme taken lightly.

Okay - compromise. If you must insist on spreading the "That One" meme, would you please consider putting it in the context of racial slurs commonly heard in the '60's, which have no place in our society today?

Jesus, I still have to convince some of my relatives that that stupid New Yorker cover wasn't for real.
