In WWI, Japan was an ally that was a founding member of the League of Nations that should have been treated as an equal. Instead the Japanese proposal for a clause in the League of Nations covenant for racial equality was REJECTED, exacerbating Japan's sense that it had been used. The grievance that the exclusion of Germany from the League along with the debilitating reparations to be paid to the victors were perfect ground for a new detente, the Axis powers. The League of Nations was a failure.

And John McCain wants to repeat those mistakes?
