2. He should have suggested it before the $700B. No one will buy this.
Not on top of the current debt load.

3. Guess what?
It will NOT work.

Most voters will see it as the gambit it is: A desperate move by a desperate man...

5. I could have sworn the last bailout was to accomplish this plan?
He just makes up shit out of his ass and throws it out there.

11. It bought the securities
that backed the mortgages. Part of the bail-out was to encourage any participating bank to negotiate their mortgages. The problem with this is that it's not just the mortgages causing the problem. It's everything involved in the mortgage market that is the problem. If banks could just renegotiate these loans and be solvent, they'd do it in a nano-second. It's not really the core problem.

6. There has to be a catch in it somewhere
It might be a good idea, but I don't trust them and I don't think anyone else is going to either.

8. So far, reactions from Indies seem to be only slightly positive on this.
Given how pissed the base seems to be, I doubt this will survive that long.

10. Operative phrase is "it will piss off the Right"
It IS doing just that, as we speak. They have already been indoctrinated with the notion that the whole crisis was caused by poor brown people getting mortgages they didn't deserve. Now their hero is telling them he wants to bail those "welfare queens" out. Any gains he would possibly make with undecideds will be more than offset by the racist base.

12. It won't work...
300 Billion on top of 700 billion - all handed to middle America as a big fat bill? This is NOT a game changer... but McCain's pissy mood and insulting demeanor are toxic to his campaign.
