Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama followed his debate at Belmont University with a party -- at the home of former Vice President Al Gore.

Obama and his wife Michelle made a "surprise" visit to a post-debate dessert reception at the home of Gore and his wife Tipper in the exclusive Belle Meade neighborhood here.

Supporters had paid $2,500 to attend the event, jointly sponsored by Obama for America and the Democratic National Committee.

The Gores had to rush to host the roughly 350-person event. They were in the audience for the debate, and received a standing ovation from the home town crowd.

I'm going to a fundraiser for Chris Gregoire on Oct 24 and Al is the guest speaker. I can't wait!!! I've never spent that much money on lunch before ($150 for the cheapest tickets) but this is going to be well worth it.
