MCCAIN TO PATCH IT UP WITH DAVE
(It's from the NY Post, so who knows?)

DAVID Letterman and Sen. John McCain are talking about making up.

McCain representatives and "Late Show" executives are negotiating an appearance on Letterman's show sometime around the final presidential debate on Oct. 15, according to knowledgeable sources.

McCain is expected to be in the New York area that week for the debate at Hofstra University on Long Island.

Representatives for both the McCain campaign and the Letterman show declined to comment yesterday.

McCain ticked off Letterman two weeks ago when he abruptly canceled a planned appearance on the late night show several hours before he was due to appear - claiming he had to return to Washington to deal with the financial crisis. Letterman said on the air that McCain had called him personally to apologize and said he was racing to the airport. But when Letterman producers discovered the Senator sitting down with Katie Couric at the same time he was supposed to be taping "The Late Show," Letterman unloaded on McCain - and has continued to rip the Senator and his running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin, every night since.

18. Because it's about ratings....
The media wins with advertisers since McCain and Palin will bring viewers to Letterman and SNL (respectively).

Furthermore, the media is going to hedge their bets so that they can have access regardless of who wins.

It's as simple as that really.

Maybe next time.

14. This is what the press needs to be doing to Palin
It clearly works. I'll never understand why they continue to give her any positive coverage while she's flipping them the bird.

16. Too Bad - It's Apparant Letterman Is An Obama Supporter
McCain will go on and try to act "cute" or "cool" - both of which is is neither, unless you consider that young voters have an impression of McCain of being cool because of his past appearances on TDS and Letterman.

I thought this would happen and McCain would come crawling back, especially now that he's tanking.

21. He should surprise him with a guest host
The guest host can tell McCain that Dave had an emergency in DC to attend to.

22. Too little, too late
McCain can go on the show and spin all he wants, but the narrative is already written that he lied to Letterman. That's what people will remember.

Not to mention Letterman mocking on the McCain/Palin ticket night after night.

23. In my dream world of cosmic justice ...

McCain shows up for the show to find Dave has had an emergency to attend to and Keith Olbermann is the guest host. If McPOW has the guts to stay for that, immediately after he leaves the stage Dave comes on thanking Keith for filling in during Dave's personal 'restroom' type emergency.

Yeah I know, but a girl can dream
