1. Yeppers, he sure is. Ayers is truly old news. And just by association.
Keating is old news too, but NOT by association; this is McAnus, right in the thick of it, direct involvement. Rather different.

5. The early nineties are not like the late sixties......
and we are talking about a financial scandal that Taxpayers ended up paying for, and many lost their lives savings.

15. Plus the fact that the "Keating Five" scandal was right smack in the middle of a $500b bailout...
...of a savings and loans.

For a man who saw all this garbage go down before, he sure didn't do anything to save us from this "crises".

McCain was a tortured POW, yet he doesn't mind sending our kids to fight an illegal war.

24. Brokaw is a personal friend of McCain.
Watch him throw softballs at McCain and hardballs at Obama.

I think Brokaw is going to do everything he can to hand the debate to McCain on a silver platter.

And I also think McCain will be as negative as before and even more cutting but he will introduce some novelty into the debate, like "Obama had a piece of toilet tissue on HIS shoe and HE didn't even KNOW it!!!!" Only more clever. And the GOP corporate suck up media will go gaga with McCAIN EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS!! HE WON!!!!!!!

2. They should find a way to Dan Rather him
Edited on Sun Oct-05-08 10:56 PM by anonymous171
Leak him some fake documents about Obama and Ayers then wait for him to report about them as if they are true, then debunk the articles and ask for Brokaw's resignation. That's what Rove would do.

12. "That's what Rove would do."
That's exactly what's wrong with the idea.

Obama if proving he can fight perfectly effectively without resorting to chickenshit.

Notice that all his attacks on McNutso will be accurate.

I heard Obama cite this famous Truman quote on the one occasion I saw him in person:

Crowd: "Give 'em hell, Harry!"
Truman: "I'll just give 'em the truth, and they'll think it's hell."

3. How often does the media report on itself?
Other than the embarrassment of the ABC primary debate there's rarely been much self scrutiny in the media. If Brokaw doesn't mention it (and it's likely the bastard won't) only the bloggers will scream. The M$M won't want to criticize a "pro" like him.

16. Some questions from the internet will be used
Reminds me of the lady asking about the flag pin in that Philly debate during the Dem primaries. ABC saw a NY Times article featuring that lady and her "concern" about the flag pin and sought her out to get her question on video, and then tried to pass it off as something that everybody in PA was worried about. It's just a cowardly way to ask controversial questions and then try to abdicate yourself of responsibility of the relevance of the question.

And I guarantee somebody out there has asked Brokaw about the Keating 5.

19. I'm pretty sure Brokaw has final say in selecting public questions,
though there are obviously going to be some audience ones as well.

8. Yes, if brokaw asks Obama about
Ayers..he damn well better ask mccain about Keating5.

I almost hope he does ask Obama 'cause then he can put it to rest.

Whatever mccain says you know it's going to be full of lies and will have to be fact checked after the debate when all will be revealed.

13. Paul Begala ...

Paul Begala cited today that John McCain served on board with anti-semite ties. By virtue of McCain being around a lot longer, he will cannot win the "guilt by association game".

I saved it on my dvr. I think someone posted it here in the video section.

10. Sorry but I don't trust Brokaw he has shown that he is a shill
for McCain.

I predict the questions will be biased towards Obama, Brokaw is going to try to help McCain as much as he can.

17. Supposedly from the internet. The "undecideds" are from the Tennessee area.
Not exactly Dem-friendly territory. I'm expecting a couple of planted questions about Obama being a Muslim.

22. Brokaw shouldn't be asking anything but follow-ups.
It's a town-hall. He could seek clarification, but that is about it. Brokaw shouldn't be beginning any questions himself.

25. There'll be 87 minutes on Ayers,
why he's a terrorist and how he's going to attack America if Obama wins and then 3 minutes of McCain answering the question of 'how the Keating 5 BS doesn't at all interfere with how incredibly awesome you are, Senator.'

This one has the stink of being rigged all over it from three time zones away. The MSM needs this one to go badly for Obama to have a race to cover again, and old reliable Brokaw will give it to them.
