1. If it's who you're talking about, that was David Yepsen of the Des Moines register.
I don't think he exactly qualifies as a Repug talking head -- more of a mainstreamer. He has been really good at calling out McLame, however, for his turn to these stupid character smears. He says the economy is where it's at and people are in no mood for these silly smear games. Surprisingly, Peggy Noonan agrees.

2. I watched MTP today too
and was extremly struck by what Peggy Noonan had to say. I know, "her", I don't often agree with her statements or her politics, but today, I believe she is right on. The gist of her comments today were about how we need to act like "adults" that there are several very difficult situations brewing in the world, and that this extreme negative turn by the McLame campaign, i.e. Palin bringing up Ayers and any other mud they can sling, is truly harmful. Very, very true, just look at many of the posts today about the mud on McLame. I, for one, pledge not to fall into the trap of mud slinging, I don't have the time nor the energy; my family is using both these to just survive right now; trying not to let the gut wretching worry run our every day. We want mature, stable, and calm leadership to make it to the other side of these bad times.

3. if I hear Peggy freaking Noonan
tell me one more time how we need to raise the level of discourse in this country I'm going to send a brick through the television. How in the hell did we get to this point, dumbass? Could it be talk radio? Or the predominance of psycho right wing analysts (sorry, redundant!) on the talk shows? Or the gutter politics of Atwater/Rove et. al. ? Gee Peggy, how conveeenient. You now decide we need a moral compass and a conscience. Well you reap what you sow. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....

Whew! I needed that!
