29. Everyone was Obama supporters - they said they registered thousands of new voters today
I got some Obamagear but they didn't have the t-shirt I wanted. But I did buy a bootleg T-shirt because it was a nice memory of the concert. I'll stash that way for history.

12. If the crowd extended all the way to the Art Museum
then that's about 5 blocks worth of people. The Parkway is 12 car lanes wide (including the parking lanes) and has good-sized medians separating the local traffic lanes from the express lanes in the center. Can't tell if people were there in the street behind the stage but if they were, they could have stretched a few more blocks to 17th St. That is City Hall behind him in the shots with the tower, which is about 5 blocks SE of where the stage was.

Great turnout and a great day for this! :applause:

On either side of the parkway (you're not seeing those people in this picture).

I'm a really bad estimate of crowd sizes, but Philly.com puts the estimate at 50,000 in this chat.

Oh and the campaign were paying the tab for damages so people can come out and vote. Wicked cool. The freepers were there bashing thinking that the tax payers were picking up the tab. But the article clearly said the O-Team was paying for it...they got stuffed. I love when these assholes eat their own shit.

I could just see Bruce's head between the bigscreen TV and the building that was holding it.

A better way to say it was I was near Puerto Rico (they have all the flags from around the world along Ben Franklin Parkway)

30. It was my sacrifice to be super close
I can actually pick out my head in one of those AP photos. I was about 3-4 people away from being in the front row of the "blue ticket" sections, close to the VIP section. The TV screen was way behine me. I was there since 11am trying to volunteer but they didn't need me. I'm fair-skinned and normally I am religious about sunscreen but I thought since the forecast was cloudy that I'd be ok. Never again.

But it was so worth it. That was such a beautiful version of Thunder Road. His voice sounded perfect. His speech, totally off the cuff was so brilliant and so heartfelt and so perfect. It was like a group prayer with Bruce for close to an hour. And the songs he picked were just appropriate and I appreciated his poetry in a whole new way. I was tempted not to go this morning (I live 80 miles away and I had to do it alone unfortunately) but I am so glad I did. I was so jealous of the people who saw him campaign for Kerry that I knew I'd kick myself if I didn't. I just wish I got a shirt. I'll check on ebay tomorrow.

I am volunteering in Luzerne and Carbon County. Today I was alone and I met so many nice people while we were waiting I bet you can meet other campaign buddies. 35. I've done several concerts on the Ben Franklin parkway
and that crowd can easily go over 100,000. You have to realize what they do count is those of us who were inside the barriers but there were even more circling the concert area outside of the barriers. In fact some estimates of Live 8 back in 2005 had the numbers over 1 million (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_8#Philadelphia.2C_USA)

Now, I doubt that 1 million people were at that event but looking at the pictures I think we hit close to 100K.

49. Well I would but...
In all honesty, I really only lurk regularly during elections so I can keep up with everything that's going on. This place is a great news source but the infighting and name calling that seems to go on discourages me from actually participating and eventually I just leave again. :/

There's really good stuff here but the drama resembles Live Journal; the difference being that I expect it on LJ.

That said, I do enjoy 80% of the things that are posted.
