What Time to Show Up for Obama Rally?
I am going to the Obama rally tomorrow in Asheville. He speaks at 2pm, gate opens at 12 noon. I am not sure how many it seats, maybe 4,000.

What time should I get there? Like now?

1. We showed up here in Dunedin at 8:30 for a 1:00 start. We took
bikes, so parking was not an issue. The stadium here has 6,000 seats. Two hours doesn't seem like enough time to get folks through security. The gates here opened at 10:30 and we got in at 11:30- there were thousands and thousands in line behind us. However long you have to stand and wait, it will be worth it.

4. In Pueblo, Colorado, we couldn't take liquids past the security check.
Also, no umbrellas or anything that could be thrown. Water, sodas and food were available inside the venue. It was at the state fair grounds. I took a hand bag (it was searched) with some snacks and that was ok. The entire wait in line and the security check were very well organized. I think they would prefer you not take a bag, but, hey, they said a "personal item" was ok.

I had to leave my umbrella outside the stands, but it and several others were placed together by the volunteers, and I retrieved it. Security also had a place to put them, but I would have had to get out of line. There was no way I was going to do that.

I think it was the state and city campaign people who did such a good job managing the crowd.

5. In Pa, I went to the rally with 20,000+
He spoke at 2, and they started letting people in at noon, I got there at 10 am, and I was so far back in the line I couldn't see him speak.

Think Rolling Stones tickets.
