Are you ready for the "Swift Boating"?
It will be vicious. I hope Obama's team is fast and able to counteract very well.

12. That's just it - if McLame wants to go tit for tat - then Obama supporting 527s have a LOT more ammo
on McLame.

When the shit starts to fly, Obama should continue being the cool, level-headed guy that has won him growing numbers in the polls. His game doesn't change. But the 527s need to bury McPhony-baloney with every nasty, negative, innuendo that they can unearth. And there's a lot out there.

3. They must have been planning for it all year
Really, the amazing thing is that McCain has waited so long. At this point, it's probably too late to have a significant effect.

4. I have a hard time imagining how they'll dig anything else up.
They've been working on it pretty viciously ever since Senator Obama announced his candidacy.

I must say I am worried.
The American Issues Project has announced some grandiose plans and is run by swift-boat veterans. It was effective in 2004, why not in 2008? I try to tell myself the economic situation is so dire that people won't tolerate distractions from the real issues, but a part of me doesn't really believe that.

7. Unless they come up with something new, it's going to sink McCain
faster than our economy is sinking. Friends and relatives of mine are really worried about the economy. They have called me and my husband over the past few weeks for advice. Our retirement money has taken a real nosedive....I doubt most Americans will care about McCain's desperate attempts.

10. McCain knows he can't win on the issues, so he's gotta try smears.
This time, though, I don't think the people will be as susceptible to them as they were in 2000 and 2004.

At least, that's my hope.

18. On 'Rachel' last night, Michael Dukakis said something about the "kitchen sink" being thrown
Rachel asked him about what techniques should be used in fighting back. If you haven't seen the clip, check out MSNBC's videos---"Obama's Next Move".

21. Yeah, I saw Dukakis on Maddow last night.
He was right in saying that the major mistake he and Kerry made was not responding to the negative attacks and smears right away, but letting them fester in the minds of voters.

In politics, not responding to a negative attack and debunking it is almost like admitting it's true.

We would have heard rumblings of it in August. I'm sure the Obama team is ready for anything. But what the heck is left?

20. WAR: Wright Ayers Rezko
it is the same shit the Clinton campaign threw at him. In retrospect, she did him a favor as the Obama Campaign knows exactly how to handle this crap. Ayers is ludicrous - Obama was barely out of diapers when Bill was in the Weather Underground, and his later association was all about doing good things in Chicago. Crazy Rev Wright is history, Obama left that church. Rezko is much ado about nothing. Whatever corruption Rezko was into, none of it involves Obama.

I think McCain knows that for every little thing he might come up with, what we have on him is worse.

15. THANK GOD REV. WRIGHT CAME OUT IN THE PRIMARIES! THANK GOD REV. WRIGHT CAME OUT IN THE PRIMARIES!
Hannity and friends were dumb to release these tapes so early. Had this come out now, I think it could have tanked his candidacy, simply because he wouldn't have had time to explain himself. I never thought I would say this but FOXNews really did us a favor this time.

19. The Jed Report.
http://www.jedreport.com/2008/04/john-mccains-do.html

"More details on the anti-terrorism legislation opposed by McCain:

At issue is a 1994 law protecting abortion clinics from anti-choice terrorism. In May, 1994 the Senate passed the legislation by a 69-30 margin, and John McCain was among the cabal of anti-choice Senators who voted against the bill.

McCain's opposition to the legislation is rather remarkable. Its provisions were narrowly tailored to protect clinics from the wave of anti-choice terrorism that was sweeping the nation at the time. (Read the full legislation here.)

Here's how the New York Times described the new law when it first passed the Senate in November, 1993 (it passed by the same margin as the final bill, and McCain opposed it both times):"
