Lake Co. GOP fights to close voting offices
HAMMOND (WLS) -- A battle over opening satellite voting offices in northwest Indiana moves to federal court.

A decision by that court could affect turnout in a key swing state in next month's presidential election.

Republicans have argued that the satellite centers in Gary, Hammond and East Chicago are illegal. They say there was no bipartisan vote to approve them.

Democrats argue that this is an effort to hold down voting in democratic areas.

Every time more people get to vote it hurts Republicans.

1. I'm starting to think there'd BE no Republican party if everyone were allowed to vote.

5. It would help to specify which Lake Co. you mean.
A lot of states have counties named Lake.

8. BB, true
My state has a Lake County as well. Although the population is so low there I doubted it was the one in my state.

6. It's a shame these stories don't get more publicity.
Why would anyone want to vote for a party that routinely tries to STOP people from voting?

We can only hope for an Obama Justice Department to put a stop to this activity once and for all!

9. To be fair state law requires unanimous vote for the satellite voting centers.
This isn't the first instance that Republicans refused to support unanimous voting centers. They also refused to allow an early voting site on Ball State University in Delaware County, Indiana.

Vote on early voting falls short
