When you look at people like George Bush and Sara Palin, as a liberal, you don't see the appeal at all. What us liberals don't grasp and I think as a southerner, I get just a little bit more is this: I think we can all agree that if G W Bush hadn't of been elected he would have been much more accepting of his defeat than Al Gore. Most Americans sense that and are attracted to it. Let's face it, if Bush had of lost in 2000, He would have been just as happy fiddling with a baseball team or being a board member in some big company.

I think the American people sense the same thing in people like Sara Palin, she would be probably just as happy raising her kids in Alaska and being the Governor or even retiring from that and raising her kids. She'd be content probably either way and as liberals we don't see the appeal that has to a lot of Americans that their leaders are just public servants (for a time).

As all these right wingers in my family and in Georgia are so apt to tell me is....."the problem with liberals is they've made the Government their God and therefore misery is their companion".

Let's face it simple minded and dense has it's appeal still in 2008 America.

Both are thoroughly vicious narcissists interested in their own power. Both are shallow egocentrists, both lack curiosity about anything not directly related to them, both simply lack integrity. I doubt that either has much of an interior life. I doubt that either could, for example, learn to meditate. The inner silence would scare the bejesus out of them.

It isn't just a southern thing...for a lot of people, ambition is unattractive. Look at virtually every hollywood political hero role, from Mr. Smith goes to Washington to Dave. If you want a popular movie politician, get him in office by accident or against his initial wishes (sorry, no favorable female political myths come to mind). Even in our real life myth building, we cherish the idea that the presidency was thrust upon Washington, we never hear about the campaigns of Lincoln, except for perhaps the spirited debates. Even the tremendous ambition of the Kennedy's is placed on papa Joe's back lest is somehow soil his sons' glow.

It makes sense, sorta. We've all at one time or another bemoaned the choices and thought the best people don't want the job. Democrats mostly understand that the job is political. Although we too may dream of Jimmy Stewart coming in to save the country, we know deep down that only a politician is truly suited for the presidency. I get why the folksy, "Aw shucks, I'll do it only because you insist" attitude of Palin or Bush works on some people--it's a fun fantasy, but would you want surgery from some person accidently thrust into the operating room?

9. Not sure i agree, i'm open minded but...

I don't care for ANYONE who thinks it's ok to push their morals and ideals onto others, which is what most of the right wing does. Palin did some shady things before becoming the VP nominee as well, so it's not just about not liking her cause she not in my party.

I don't like Palin because every time she talks it rubs me the wrong way, i don't agree with her on every social issue and while that's ok to disagree, I know she is one who would try to insinuate her morals and beliefs unto those who don't share them. I hate people like that. I dislike that she appears to be using her daughter's condition as a campaign ploy, and no i don't feel bad for the boy, i feel bad for her daughter who is being forced into a marriage that will no doubt end in divorce once Palin is out of the spotlight. I don't like the position she's put her daughter or her boyfriend in for the sake of this campaign. She should have left her daughter out of the spotlight and just told the press to leave her alone, not drag her on stage and parade her and Levi (is that his name) around like a prop.

I don't like McCain because he so easily turned on his actual "maverick" rep to tote the GOP line. I don't trust someone who can't stay true to themselves. McCain, so trusted on both sides of the aisle, has lowered himself with such ease to the GOP level and engaged in nasty smear campaigns and all the rest of the dirty politics that the GOP is known for.

And Bush...oh man don't get me started....but in all honesty I've started feeling bad for the guy. I think he is dumb as a bag of rocks and now that his last term is at an end, all his supporters are jumping ship, disrespecting him and trying to distance themselves from him. But I'm starting to think that, it wasn't Bush this whole time, he wasn't smart enough or power hungry enough to screw up this bad. I think it was the men behind the scene, Rove and Cheney pulling the strings. Just as I fear there will be a large GOP influence on the McCain administration whether McCain likes it or not.

So for me it's not about disliking Bush, Palin or even McCain cause of their party, it's about not wanting a puppet to be the leader of my country.
