R'uh R'oh...TROUBLE IN MAVERICK PARADISE: "Palin disagrees with McCain's Michigan decision"
Palin disagrees with McCain's Michigan decision

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/10/03/palin-disagrees-with-mccains-michigan-decision/

From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney

(CNN) – The McCain campaign decided this week that the battleground state of Michigan may be out of reach for the Republican ticket this year — a move that's drawn criticism from one prominent dissenter: VP nominee Sarah Palin.

Earlier: McCain cedes Michigan to Obama

In an interview with Fox News Friday the Republican vice presidential candidate appeared to be disappointed with the decision and said she still wants to take a stab at wining the state that hasn't voted for a Republican presidential candidate in two decades.

She also said she made her disagreement known to top campaign officials:

"I fired a quick e-mail and said, 'oh, come on! Do we have to call it there?' she said. " Todd and I would happy to get to Michigan and walk through those plants car manufacturers.

"We'd be so happy to get to speak with the people there in Michigan, who are hurting because the economy is hurting," she added. "Whatever we can do and whatever Todd and I can do in realizing what their challenges in that state are, as we can relate to them and connect with them and promise them that we won't let them down in the administration."

Earlier: Palin calls Obama comment 'reckless,' criticizes Couric

McCain aides told CNN Thursday Michigan increasingly appeared a long shot the Arizona senator and the campaign had decided to divert its resources there to other key battleground states. The latest CNN poll of polls in Michigan shows Obama with an 8 point lead in the state where the nation's economic woes have hit hard.

Related: McCain dropped $2 million before pulling up Michigan stake

But Palin maintained Friday she and McCain still have a shot there.

"I want to get back to Michigan, and I want to try," she said.

17. Yeah the problem with picking someone who has grandiose ideas about themselves is they
will mistakenly believe they know more than you eventually.

43. So she shot off an email to the strategists telling them they are wrong. Boy, they must love her.
Watch, she'll be trying to run the campaign before you know it. She'll tell McC to fire the people who disagree with her. I'd expect to see some major players quit the campaign. From what we've seen, she's a real bridge burner.

16. There was some speculation that this snip was contrived by the
campaign and not Palin.

However, this pretty much proves it's really hers. That's her challenged syntax, no doubt. Unless maybe 'teh stupid' is communicable.

29. You hit a nerve
How Does Todd Palin have the nerve to show his face when he ignores a subpoena? THAT'S A CRIME! When I was in Metairie Louisiana just outside New Orleans, I missed a traffic court date becuase the date on the ticket was illegible and I misread it. I spent 23 hours in jail and was dragged in front of the trafffic court judge in manacles. As bas as that was, it was the law in that time and place so I just paid the ticket. How does this Kevin Federline wannabe get off ignoring a state investigation? This is a disturbing trend from the Cheney playbook. If you don't like the law, break it!

40. Wow. I am so sorry that happened to you.
Sometimes I swear we are just a very large semi police state.

It's infuriating that the P family gets away with this. I wish more voters would think logically. If the P's do this before they get this power, what wouldn't they do after? And I believe Todd will be an integral part of the Vice Presidency.

8. How the fuck would she know anything
They don't show her internals and district charts. She hasn't been within 100 miles of a McCain/Palin campaign strategy session like, y'know, ever.

They pulled out of Michigan, publicly and humiliatingly, because to spend even another dollar there is obviously a waste, and they're running out of money. She, on the other hand, "wants to go back and try." She's a fucking joke.

25. They're running out
They didn't budget for streetfights in North Carolina and Florida, either of which, should it go Dem, would spell and early end of the night for McCain. They have to stay on air in those states. They're looking down the pike at the costs for continued advertising through November 4 in twelve states, when they only planned for 5 or 6 at most. It's not feasible. The fight they're having to wage now in order to "save" North Carolina means almost no money for Ohio after October 12. And Obama's just getting revved up. Notice that he's been seeming to avoid Ohio. That's over as of the end of next week. He's waiting for the McCain machine to start sputtering, then he's going to go at them where the line breaks. If McCain goes softer in Ohio, then Obama will be there 10 times before election day. If it's Florida, then there. If the McCain campaign goes weak in NC, or VA, then the push will be there. Obama has enough money to push in all four of those states simultaneously, while McCain will be running through funds faster than he can plug the holes. Yeah, you're damn skippy they're running out of money. They had a six week game plan that is falling apart in week two, so the Michigan retreat (and they WERE going to make a play for Michigan; it was part of their game plan) is merely a symptom of a strategy in disarray.

28. Full of herself or not, it doesn't matter
She doesn't understand the grind and science of electoral politics. They're playing Single A ball up in Alaska. In the Majors, your guy can look at the district maps and the polls and tell you straight up: "We're done in Michigan 6, and you're only polling at 58% in Michigan 1. We need at least 64% in the UP to make up for some of the loss in Michigan 13. We can't make that up. It's impossible." And that guy will be right, 98% of the time. She doesn't understand that.

27. You know what is absolutely priceless about this --- She is right

Of course they should scale back but to actually announce that you are quitting a state is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of.

Cut down the appearences send a surrogate for a couple of Republican club meetings do a couple of fund raisers with CD candidates and run a couple of TV ads but to actually announce that your giving a state up is brain dead stupid, people in other states have to wonder if they should continue to volunteer etc. It is pure negative with no upside. There is no positive spin coming out of saying I quit Michigan.

The McCain campaign is so stupid that even Palin is smarter.

That is like putting Quayle in charge of the spelling Bee cause he is the best speller around.
