My kids and the VP debate last night...
Funny story (at least in my mind!)

My 11 year old son had an assignment for Social Studies last night to watch a part of the debate and fill out a worksheet. He needed to choose one question and write the responses from both candidates. He chose the Nuclear Iran vs. Unstable Pakistan (!). He also needed to write one positive thing he noticed about both Biden and Palin and one negative. I fully expected him to ask me to help him, but he didn't. He said he was the only student in his class who watched the ENTIRE debate.

I peeked at his paper this morning and he didn't write anything in the positive Palin area, I asked him why not and he said he wasn't going to write anything positive about her. Negative Palin comment was that she said ummm too much and she kept drawing between questions (he was convinced that was what she was doing with her pen)...

In the meantime, my 9 year old son started watching the debate, but fell asleep in front of the TV by 9:30. I carried him to bed afterwards, but on the drive into school this morning he told me he had a headache. I said maybe he just slept wrong, but he said "no, I think it's because I had to listen to Sarah Palin all night last night"...

that kid always makes me laugh, I was just hoping he wouldn't end up in the nurse's office today 'cause I'm sure he would tell her the same thing!!!

3. Out of the mouths of babes......
:hi: Sometimes kids are much wiser than us grownups.

At my son's middle school last year, they had a mock election. Obama got something like 65% of the vote, Hillary got around 29%, and JMcC got something like 5%. If only we could lower the legal voting age to 12.

5. I was surprised he made it through the entire debate...
but we WERE also playing Palin Bingo--where you X off words or phrases that she says, like hockey mom, pit bull, Russia, etc....I won that game, but he came in a close second. He only needed her to say the word "God" for a bingo and she didn't say it till the last 10 minutes. funny.

7. My 13 year old who is VERY Cerebral can't stand Palin - he says she doesn't answer questions
She just goes on and on and on about whatever comes to her mind. It drives him NUTS..... Personally I couldn't watch her, I just closed my eyes and listened so that I wasn't distracted by all her winking and folksy crap...
