"No, no more 'filters' please. I just want free airtime to attack my opponent..."

From Gov. Palin this morning on Faux:
"In those Katie Couric interviews, I did feel that there were lot of things that she was missing in terms of an opportunity to ask what a VP candidate stands for, what the values are represented in our ticket. I wanted to talk about Barack Obama increasing taxes, which would lead to killing jobs. I wanted to talk about his proposal to increase government spending by another trillion dollars. Some of his comments that he's made about the war, that I think may, in my world, disqualify someone from consideration as the next commander in chief. Some of the comments that he has made about Afghanistan -- what we are doing there, supposedly just air raiding villages and killing civilians. That's reckless. I want to talk about things like that. So I guess I have to apologize for being a bit annoyed, but that's also an indication of being outside the Washington elite, outside of the media elite also. I just wanted to talk to Americans without the filter and let them know what we stand for."

Sarah Palin on Fox News Today

Well dagnabit, I betcha we all would be just so pleased as punch if the press corps stopped "filtering" all that great information you've been trying to give us.

Wow, what a drag. Who woulda thought that a VP candidate for President would have to deal with a filter of the press. Golly those folks are so unfair to her. Thank God Fox doesn't filter Gov. Palin...

1. Questions are a filter?

Why doesn't she say what she really means: she wants free airtime to give her stump speech.

4. Questions and answers are a filter. She's telling us not to believe our eyes and ears.

6. Its possible the press might ask about contradictions like "massive oversight" & Get the govt out...
of our way. The silly thing is that they think they can sell this with any real effectiveness - that because Palin no longer wants to be questioned, than we will say, "oh yeah, those press folks are too mean to my sweet Sarah. Leave Sarah Palin alone!"

2. Does it occur to anyone else that her handlers are trying to explain
to her the image and strategy they're trying to build for her (you're Joe Six Pack, Sarah, you're a Washington outsider, your enemy is the media elite) and she's actually giving the strategy away out loud, instead of just implementing it? Sort of like reading the stage notes written in the margins aloud during a speech (look at the audience, smile, turn to the company president here).

5. When she said "Joe Six Pack" the other day, I thought, there's no way
Edited on Fri Oct-03-08 02:51 PM by wienerdoggie
they really wanted her to say that. They must have explained to her that she was to APPEAL to Joe Six Pack as her strategy, but she took it to mean that she should actually use the term directly. Thank God they didn't tell her she was supposed to appeal to "trailer trash" and "low-information voters".

7. So she thought Katie Couric was giving her an interview
to ask her about Barack Obama?

What planet is Alaska on again?
