McCain quits Michigan - Obama doubles up in Nebraska
Two states Maine and Nebraska allocate part of their EVs based on CDs. Obama has spotted an opening in stealing an EV from deep within the red state of Nebraska where McCain has one of his largest leads + 20. If they are successful they will turn Nebraska's 5 EVs for McCain to a net 3.

Obama Adds Staff in Nebraska
Marc Ambinder: "Some evidence that the Obama campaign is heavily targeting the state's second congressional district: they've just opened another field office in Omaha."

Nebraska is one of two states -- the other being Maine -- that allows its electoral votes to be split between the candidates.

4. This is where the electoral college gives me a headache...
That some states can split their votes and others don't.

I'm glad that the Obama camp is thinking about this possibility, but has Nebraska split its vote before? I don't recall them doing this, to my memory at least.

7. Omaha is like an oasis of blue in a sea of blood red.
but the district also includes a lot of red-leaning suburbs.

Still, the way the polls are trending this year, I think Obama has a real shot at that one EV.

13. I think it is possible that he could get one, buy very doubtful two.
But the fact we are even considering it is amazing. I have talked to many people in Lincoln who have always voted Repub who are sitting this one out and some that are even looking at Obama. Who knows!?!

15. This is his same strategy of grabbing every delegate in the Primary.
Go everywhere, get every single person that will go your way.

It is how he won. And, how he'll win, now.

14. It's the caucus strategy, redux
The Obama people are masters of getting votes where they don't deserve them. It slew Hillary in the primaries, where she rolled up big margins in some states but actually got fewer delegates because of the more exclusive caucuses where Obama did great work.

If he can get (not "steal," because the rules are what they are) 2 votes in NE, then McCain is a damn idiot.

So, 2 votes, then.
