Gore plans Iowa swing for Dean
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Former Vice President Al Gore has scheduled a two-day swing through Iowa this week to stump for Democratic presidential front-runner Howard Dean.

Gore, the Democratic nominee in 2000, endorsed Dean last month.

Gore planned to be in Iowa on Friday and Saturday for rallies in Des Moines and a swing through eastern Iowa, Dean's campaign said

Gore easily won Iowa's caucuses in 2000 and narrowly carried the state in the general election against George W. Bush.

2. Good for Dean
It's nice to see an endorsee doing a bit more than an initial congratulatory press conference. Nice one. :-)

Wes Clark. He will make an extraordinary American President.

3. He should go home and stay out of it.
Repugs will only use his endorsement to help them. I think he is washed up. Out of site-out of mind. Been gone too long.

7. Out of SIGHT?
He's given several speeches and presentations over the past two years that opened up doors for timid Democrats. Oh, and he WON THE ELECTION. Sorry to break it to you, he has every right to campaign for his choice, and we are greatful to him for doing so.

5. Isn't Gore a Washington insider?
He can do what he wants, just spare me the pronouncements about the 11th Commandment. Telling us we should all get behind Howard in December was one of the great absurdities of this campaign.

9. Link where he said everyone should support Dean?
I recall a plea for civility, but not a call for everyone to abandon the candidate they support. I'd like to see that, if I'm wrong.

12. Criticism of Dean undermines the party
that's the way many of us interpreted his comments. And a few pundits, too. Here's an opinion piece:

Here's some of what Gore really said:

"Democracy is a team sport. And I want to do everything I can to convince the -- anybody that is interested in my judgment about who, among these candidates has the best chance to win and the best chance to lead our country in the right direction. I want to do everything I can to convince you to get behind Howard Dean and let's make this a successful campaign as a group. It is about all of us and all of us need to get behind the strongest candidate. Now I respect the prerogative of the voters and the caucuses and the primaries. I'm just one person, but I'm offering my judgment and I'm also going to say one other thing here," Gore continued. more........

14. "Democracy is a team sport.
All of us need to get behind the strongest candidate."

That's what Al said, in DECEMBER.

That's not encouraging people to abandon the candidate they support?
