Who thinks Palin spent half the debate answering questions she wasn't asked
Folks I thought it was me at first but I'd be there thinking hold on what was the question again . I was tired last night but after a while I realised she's repeating the same three or four stock answers to almost every question.

Truthfully imo she was awful . Look she didn't implode last night but that's because she did that already

I may not answer questions the way you want....then went on to answer a completely different question. She tried real hard to make Obama look bad on taxes...that is where she went every time she didn't want to answer the question actually asked.

5. Clearly!
Her debate training consisted of two main lessons:

Learn the talking points.

Learn to turn any question into an opportunity to repeat these talking points.

It that sense, she did a good job.

I just hope lots of people saw right through her staged bullshit.

9. Yes, but I'm sure that was her goal. And McCain's goal.
They succeeded in that effort. To have her answer the questions asked would have probably been disastrous.

13. That's the thing - she pulled Biden back on task at least twice, she did no such thing to Sarah
Ifil was horrible. I know the format makes it tough, but the flippant attitude towards the moderator and the questions was just surreal. She would change the questions at her discretion and Ifil did nothing to put her back on topic.

11. There's no thinking to it - that's precisely what she did
I'm sure that was the plan all along too. It minimizes the damage caused if they just turned her loose up there. It's clear she didn't help her ticket and in some respects, I think she hurt it a great deal.

14. She didn't know how to answer
Bushlin could not stray from her talking points. I know if I went to a job interview and totally ignored the interviewers questions; I would not get the job. I gave her a F last night.

was when she was asked about the bankruptcy bill and she used her time talking about her energy policy.

20. When you don't know what "Achilles heel" means, you've got to say something good
I thought that question was just an invitation to the candidates to talk about anything they wanted.

I thought the moderator was much too easy. She seemed to ask softball questions on topics that the candidates were certain to have prepared for. Very disappointing.

24. I found it disorienting
I told my husband it was like asking a kid "who broke the lamp?" and then getting a rambling, non-responsive answer about what the kid did the rest of the day. You know, where the kid will admit to anything other than being in the vicinity of the broken lamp.

28. Our 13 year old grandson
asked to watch the debate with us. HE wanted to hear our opinions.

Before we gave our opinions, we asked him what he thought --- he saw through her answers and told us she didn't really answer the questions.

When THAT WOMAN said that she might not answer the questions in the way the moderator wanted, but she would just take her case right to the American people, she was just getting herself off the hook fron actually answering the questions. It was disgusting. She treated this as if it's a popularity contest. If she's likeable people will vote for her and especially cause she's just like them.

IF I thought I was going to have to listen to that folksy, cutesy voice and watch her winking her way through press conferences for 4 -8 years, I'd jump off a high bridge right now.

30. Any time she didn't have a good answer, she changed the subject
to either Taxes or energy. She spent a lot of time answering questions about taxes and energy, even though the question was not asked.
