Keith showed a clip of Biden tearing up about his children
and as usual I got misty-eyed once again. He then went to Rachel and Pat - they BOTH were blinking back tears!!! That man gets to everyone!

I watched it with many people tonight and believe me every heart broke with him and we got to know the real man. I think many people responded to him and I do believe the instant scientific polls are showing it. You need to learn to put things in perspective.

Biden with that experience, recalling a moment with his family that was horrific, and connecting to that moment in a personal way far out did anything that Sara could come up with...further...that moment connected with more people, than any other...
...In the same way, that Mc Cains awful mean attitude in the first debate connected..Those two moments may have won the election for us...

64. That is when Sarah lost America and the election.
Some people won't be able to put their finger on why they can't seem to connect with her. But their hearts know. It's something visceral and profound, and it has already left an indelible mark on the American psyche. This was a HUGE mistake, a HUGE missed opportunity. She won't get another chance like that to show the nation she's got a heart. And nothing, NOTHING she can do will fix that.

67. You summed it up
She's had opportunities to show a more sensitive, human side and she has passed those opportunities up over and over again. Maybe she thinks she has to appear "strong" because she is a woman, but she got one-upped by a real guy. I'm sorry, she hasn't shown any true sensitivity to back up her rhetoric about being a "mother of five" or "mother of a special needs child" or "mother of a soldier going to Iraq".

She could have done it so easily in just a few seconds of real emotion. What a lost opportunity (than god).

54. I'm not sure
I know, I'm a hopeless cynic, but it was awfully strategic to be purely extemporaneous. Whether it was real or staged though, it was a brilliant move from a political point of view and, if it was staged, he pulled it off so flawlessly and so convincingly, I'm perhaps even more impressed by his subtlety and finesse than I would be by his touchingly tenderhearted nature if it was genuine. Either way, it was a very strong moment.

Although I describe myself as a cynic, I truly mean no disrespect to Joe by suggesting that it could have been acted: the VP's job is primarily a PR job. If he's a skilled enough presenter to pull something like that off so convincingly, he'd be an awesomely effective VP.
