Gwen Ifill
---

I thought she did not do well at all tonight.
Very disappointed.
Totally let me down.

The last straw for me was when Palin asked if she could change the subject and Gwen let her... whereupon Palin launched into another mini speech.

DAMN IT!!!!

Make the participants STAY ON TOPIC.
By letting Palin stray, and not pointing that out, it gave that airhead more time for her silly speeches.
Not good in my opinion.

1. I was disappointed, too.
No surprises in the questions and she should have said, "If you don't intend to answer any of the questions I ask, then what are we all doing here?"

3. I think that's really in how you define the job of a moderator...
from a certain perspective, she actually performed admirably. And given the whole pseudo-contrversy about the book, I think she was trying to look as impartial as possible.

4. I agree, Gwen wasn't very strong. But she, too, was hampered by the rules.
but still she should have been tougher on Palin to actually answer the question. She should have interupted her and said, "Are you going to answer my question?"

6. Perhaps it's time to say, "I love Big Brother?" OUR Corporate rulers have taken over every precious
aspect of what once made our Country great. :(

7. I didn't care for her questions 4 years ago either. Not very incisive topics IMHO

8. Ifill was a disgrace.
A gutless moderator.

9. I think she was so snake-bit by the flap over her book deal that she was afraid
to press for the truth.

10. No good questions. No making sure they answered them. Sucks.
To me this was the biggest disappointment of the night. They only got one "debate". At least the moderator could have given them some tough questions and made them actually answer them.

What was Gwen afraid of? Being called unprofessional for a "gotcha" question? Heck, even a voter can do that.

11. I was disappointed as well. Since I also hurt my foot badly a few weeks ago
I put it on her injury, and probably the pangs of physical pain.
BUT
She in no way did what I think is her job:
To make sure neither candidate overruns the other by changing topics (holding up a mirror to their agenda, while throwing smoke over shortcomings) -
and to in general represent us who ARE NOT THERE while we throw popcorn or worse at the TV screen, by keeping them on the topic and really answering the questions.

12. I asked people to be on the lookout for what happened
in this debate 'cause I was reading on other sites how she disrespected John Edwards last VP debate and gave cheney a pass.

I'm not surprised she wasn't great.

13. maybe she was softer because of the recent
criticisms ... even tho they were unwarranted and unfounded...

i think this whole questioning her over the book toned down any tough questions she might have asked... as to not seem like she was picking on her.

14. Ifill blew it. Palin was just given 45 minutes of time...
...to do with what she wanted. By letting Palin avoid the questions, Ifill eliminated any claim that this was a debate. Ifill ruined the debate, and let a lesser candidate gain ground on sheer memorized rhetoric. Ifill did the country a disservice.

15. She didn't do a good job. I could have asked those questions. She didn't press for followups
that may have been part of the "deal" but Palin completely ignoring the moderator was shameful.

that Pills Limbaugh, freepers and other low life scum have been spewing out for the last couple of days.

Katie C. should've been the mod.....
