Name all the False Choices the Chimp will use tonight!
This is what they do: they set up a false either/or proposition, with their "position" on one side and something unacceptable as the Democratic "position" on the other.

Off the top of my head:

We have to stay on the offensive rather than playing defense. (In fact, we're always doing both in various ways.)

We either fight them over there, or we fight them here. (Fighting "them" in Iraq did absolutely nothing to stop terrorist attacks here, of course.)

Faced with a choice of trusting a madman or defending America, I'll defend America every time. (There were also the choices of letting inspectors finish their work, continuing to exert pressure with our allies, establishing a PLAN of some kind...)

What are some others?

1. Another one: attacking unilaterally vs. "getting a permission slip"
(permission slip usually from France, of course.)

2. Vote Bush or the End of Civilization
It'll be a major premise, unenunciated.

All the better for goose-stepping morons to cheer for.

3. Ah yes -- you're a Fundie or you're a Liberal Heathen
and of course, "With us or against us."

4. The false choice is Bush's favorite.
Problem is, that we look to our president to MAKE choices, not simply accept them--or what's worse, through incompetence or design, eliminate all choices except the one he wanted in the first place.

One small example--Bush puts a couple hundred thousand military next to Iraq. He can't keep them there long. Its use it, or lose it--thanks to his premature decision to have a huge builup.

Another is the "invade Iraq or do nothing" false choice. How about the containment inspection choice? Bush never felt it necessary to explain why that was unacceptable--he simply ignores it. Probably because it was a viable alternative to the war he wanted.

So war wasn't the last choice until Bush worked hard to make it the only choice.
