Not to pee in the punchbowl...
...but as this election slips away from McCain, we need to be ready for the *November* surprise.

The Neocons already had their October surprise (albeit a bit early), and McCain screwed the pooch. The American people and, more importantly, the American media are starting to wise up and put the blame for these disasters squarely on the GOP.

So what's the solution for a party in decline? Have another "surprise". But this time make it so close to the election that the media can't digest it and McCain can't POSSIBLY fuck it up. In reality it will swing very few votes to McCain, but it WILL give them the cover they need for another wholesale theft.

Tinfoil hat? Remember, McCain is on record saying he expects to stay behind Obama and then "win the election in the last 48 hours". http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/06/27/mccain-predicts-hell-overtake-obama-48-hours-before-the-election/

1. hard not to worry about this kind of crap, just have to work to make
the margin so wide that they can't steal it.

5. The problem with that is we have no idea how wide the margin needs to be
Can they steal a 10-point win? How about 20? We know they've flipped statewide races with margins close to that. What lead is big enough to be outside the GOP Margin of Theft?

2. And I fear it will be a big one.
maybe fortunately, many states have early voting. There may be enough in the bank to keep Obama on top.

3. I was concerned about this four years ago, but not now.
The GOP is in shambles, McCain's campaign is a massive clusterfuck, and I don't even think anyone's working in the Bush Administration anymore.

They are utterly and totally discredited and incompetent. They couldn't pull off an October Surprise even if Nixon rose from the dead.

6. There you go, making sense again.
However, the desperation of BushCo must be pretty high. They know what kind of prison time they're facing if a Democrat gets access to classified information. We just need to be ready for them to pull ANYTHING.

8. And a majority of the polls aren't keeping it near 51-49 anymore.
Harder to steal an election with a 10-point spread. And likely to get wider.

13. I can confirm your last point on no one working at the White House
Most of the people that are actually still left are too busy looking for jobs. The ones that are still working don't have time or knowledge to deal with any kind of surprise, especially on behalf of McCain (whom the Bushies don't exactly love in the first place.)

17. "Time or knowledge to deal..." Exactly; Rove had to sign on to FAUX
to keep any kind of public exposure and career.

Even he's done--and he's not enthused about McCain. Helping, yes, but not enthused.

20. I mean, you're dealing with 5th or 6th stringers, and a shortage of them too, at this point.
Which is the case in most any administration at this point - you hire your best guns first, then their replacements are the next best, and it goes on from there. By year 8, you've turned over staff several times in most key areas. This is all especially true for an administration where the VP is not running for President, because there's no sense that you might move up or remain stable with essentially the same group of people. Of course, Bush's status exacerbates the situation greatly, as they have been jumping ship faster than they can replace them - and who really wants to take a job that they'll be forced to leave in 6 or so months?

26. The Christofascists have never let this go.
They stole the last election and they're ready to do it again.

Exactly how many people does it take to hack a bunch of networked voting machines?

16. Bushites don't care who wins. An outgoing prez who gave a damn
would be all over this economy bust supporting his party's ticket like a wet t-shirt.

Bush and Friends could not care less.

12. "...pee in the punchbowl.."/ "...screw the pooch." How do I take the OP seriously?!
I can't stop laughing....

They can surprise us, but with out. They would want to ruin the momentum now. 48 hours is not enough to change the votes of the millions of people. Why? Because people would be working and taking care of their own priorities before they go on to the voting place. Most people really tune into the news on Friday night, maybe Saturday to get a wrap up on what's going on.

14. Oh fucking stop it already
If any of this tinfoil bullshit is true, then there's nothing we can do about it and we should just get used to living this way. There is no value in these asinine posts at all, in other words.

Just get out there and do what's right to get Obama elected and stop with these densely moronic and utterly useless fucking posts about tinfoil nonsense. It doesn't matter whether they're true or not. In either case, they suggest we're powerless. Better then to get out there and at least pretend we have power to change this shit, on the assumption that they're not fucking true.

This is just fucking DUMB.

If you don't want to face the truth of what's been going on in this country, then, please: park your ass on the couch, turn on American Idol, grab yourself a fat bag of chips and get the fuck out of the way for those of us who actually do care.

15. But there is a little monkey wrench...
It's called early voting in a lot of swing states (and not-so-swing states). That's the problem with waiting until the last second to release a surprise this time around.. that type of thing only usually swings voters by 4 - 5% anyway.. and many will have already voted by then.

So, it may not matter even if they DO have a trick up their sleeve..

21. Hint: Hackers and Electronic Voting Machines
Even as the tv networks called 2000 for Gore, the Bush Crime Family were able to confidently state that they were going to win anyway. Because they knew the fix is in.

Anyone who thinks the Neocons are going to relinquish power easily is mistaken. Obama will win like Gore did (and arguably, Kerry), and it will be taken away from him,. In case anyone on our side decides to protest, whether Obama himself chooses to contest it or not, the 1st BCT will take care of them. Hmmm -- I wonder which "tool" they will use -- the crowd control device that makes people vomit, or the one that makes you feel your skin is on fire? Both are battle-tested in Iraq and known to be highly effective non-lethal crowd control tools. Our President is such a good Christian that he will only turn non-lethal weapons on us!

I wonder what kind of people the 1st BCT is comprised of, and what they will think about turning their weapons on their fellow Americans?

BTW -- I don't think we've had the real October surprise yet. Look for it in the next two weeks. Get your umbrellas out, because a shit storm is on the way.

31. Prepared for what?
If they steal the election the Democratic Party leadership will roll over, much like they did in 2000 and 2004, and election fraud will continue to be the topic "best left unspoken." On DU there will be a mass of threads in GD and GDP screaming about this for several weeks, a rash of protests, and then we will settle into another long 4 years under Grandpa and Dopey Spice.

So what are we preparing, our rant? Our protest sign? Our legal proxy to call when we end up in jail? Man if the game is rigged, then it will be the same old crap under a different name.

Now I know, attitudes like mine are exactly why nothing was done in 00 and 04, right? Or maybe it's the fact that we're a party with high ideals that are led by gutless cowards terrified of the next hit piece put out by O'Reilly. Tell you what, if you're right and McCain does win through fraud (which seems to be his only chance now) organize a general strike, if you can get it off the ground, I'll actually stop work like everyone else. But if this is all just so much ominous hot air, then spare me, I'm getting enough of it from Wall Street these days to more than overfill my quota.

I won't rest until November 5th - no way, no how - These bastards will try to lie, cheat, and steal their way to a victory. We need to be ready to give our last full measure for this victory.

Fight like America's future depends on it - this time it does!
