Gwen Ifill is being criticized for writing a book; has anyone heard
any r/w criticism concerning Brokaw for citing false polling numbers?

Brokaw:

Ifill:

I'm smelling the stink of a double standard here.

2. Why should Ifill be pulled?
No way. She'll be fair and down the middle.

3. We have an excellent candidate.
Barack Obama would do well in a debate if Shawn Hannity were moderator!

I can't stand Brokaw, but let's stop acting like them...like our candidate is going to fold under the wrong moderator.

4. Except Ifill's book won't be released until next year, and it's
not just about Obama. Brokaw is practically working for the McBush campaign.

The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama

In THE BREAKTHROUGH, veteran journalist Gwen Ifill surveys the American political landscape, shedding new light on the impact of Barack Obama’s stunning presidential campaign and introducing the emerging young African American politicians forging a bold new path to political power.

Ifill argues that the Black political structure formed during the Civil Rights movement is giving way to a generation of men and women who are the direct beneficiaries of the struggles of the 1960s. She offers incisive, detailed profiles of such prominent leaders as Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, and U.S. Congressman Artur Davis of Alabama, and also covers up-and-coming figures from across the nation. Drawing on interviews with power brokers like Senator Obama, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, Vernon Jordan, the Reverend Jesse Jackson, and many others, as well as her own razor-sharp observations and analysis of such issues as generational conflict and the "black enough" conundrum, Ifill shows why this is a pivotal moment in American history.

THE BREAKTHROUGH is a remarkable look at contemporary politics and an essential foundation for understanding the future of American democracy.

5. I'm sure if Fox knew about Brokaw that they'd criticize him too,
Not!

6. The campaigns agreed on who would be the moderator, so they can eat shit
If they don't know how to use Google and see that she wrote some books, too goddamn bad for them.

Sorry, but I'm pissed.

9. This is just the beginning of the excuses they will make for Palin's poor performance.
I have watched Gwen Ifill for years on the News Hour and Washington Week and I've always found her to be very objective in her reporting and her interviews. I don't think there is a better choice for moderator of this debate.

10. plus, no right wingers were complaining
when George Stephanopoulos, who worked for the Clintons, moderated a Hillary and Obama debate and asked Hannity-suggested questions about Ayers. The Gibson and Couric interviews give us cover, if they try to use Gwen Ifill as an excuse if the debate really is a disaster.

12. The book isn't what's bothering them about Ifill-- it's because she's a BLACK WOMAN
They're not saying it but it's quite obvious with their pushing of the idea that if you're black, you'd vote Obama and that if you're white and you vote for Obama, it's weird. They have a problem with a "Obama supporter," a black woman, who they automatically assume won't do a good job moderating the debate because she'd obviously be "in the tank for Obama" because she'd "relate" to Obama (note that this is the type of fucked up reasoning that enable the selection of Sarah Palin in the first place). Never mind the fact that Gwen Ifill has a history of being an objective reporter.

It's this racially coded crap that the wingnuts have been pulling.

There. I've said it. CALL THEM ON THEIR FUCKING BS!

13. Gwen doesn't walk around inserting right-wing neocon talking points at every opportunity
(at least none that I've heard).

Brokaw and Scheiffer? Who really do need to step down and out are probably on the right-wing talking point email list and get theirs fresh every morning same as Fox, etc.

Fuck those whining biatches.
