I have been a DUer for four years and like most of you, have been watching this mess of an administration for the past eight years. Unlike a lot of you, I never put forth any real effort in a campaign. The tipping point for me was the choice of Sarah Palin as VP. I finally donated money to the Obama campaign and decided to become a volunteer.
I went last week to make phone calls for the very first time. At first I was nervous. As I got into it, though, I realized that all of the time I have spent on DU was being put to good use. I am able to easily answer most of the questions that come up. I am able to easily put my beliefs into words. I am able to easily try to persuade undecided voters to consider the better candidate.
If you have not signed up to volunteer for this campaign, I am gently but pointedly asking that you do so. We do not have much time left and it is imperative that we do absolutely everything in our power to prevail in November!
Most of us really don't have many excuses. I have a 6 y/o daughter, and she went right along with me ("Mommy, are we going to get to see Obama FACE-TO-FACE?" :) ) She had a great time and the staff could not have been more accomodating to her. They let her make a poster, gave her all the snacks she wanted and she was happy to go back the next day!
It was easy to find out who to contact and where to go.
