Tomorrow I will go and vote and on paper in Ohio. Ohio is gonna be blue.

Sec. of State Jennifer Brunner.

:bounce:  :loveya:

After the nightmare of 2004 here in Ohio we have a real
champion and a person I can call a friend, Jennifer Brunner.
(She says hi to me in public, answers my e-mails, & hasn't
had a state trooper arrest me)

For all that was bad about Ken Blackwell the opposite
is true for Jenny ..... trust me she knows Ohio 2004 was
dirty but she could not and still can not come out and say
anything because the firestorm would have stopped any
chances of having a clean 2008 vote.

Brunner has done the following:

Fired BOE people who would not "sign off" on having an open and honest elections.

Publicly tested and proved that ERD voting machines are not to be trusted.

Sued Diebold for selling bad product to the State.

Given everybody in the State a chance to vote early. (good bye lines)

Seized voting machines that failed to work to use as evidence against
the company that sold them to the county BOE.

Given everybody a chance to vote on paper.

Stopped voter caging.

Worked to give people who work the polls time to sleep and eat instead
of a hellish day from 5:30 AM to 7:30 PM.

Stopped a bullshit con by the McCain people "just to print up some"
absentee voter applications so as to "help out" some BOEs.

Allowed people to register and then vote on the same day in early
voting.

She also won the JFK Profiles in Courage Award for what she has done
in Ohio.

And someday she very well might be President too.

6. When I e-mailed her about some voter caging she sent me this:
Hi Tom,

Hope you are well. Of course I remember you. We just issued a directive yesterday that is designed to combat the harmful effects of the legislation (which, by the way, sunsets at the end of this year), that requires the nonforwardable mailing of the 60-day notice. The directive prohibits the cancellation of voter registrations on the sole basis of a returned 60-day notice and requires a hearing to be held before the election. I will be asking the legislature to make changes to this law. Here’s the directive, though. Take care.

Jennifer

And yes if she can clean up Blackwell's mess by 2016 she would be a great President.

3. Just heard on KO...the Ohio Supreme court upheld this lower court ruling. THE REPUKES LOST!!!!
Yahooooooooooo!!! I'm glad you're voting!!!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

OHIO SUPREME COURT UPHELD THIS RULING:
U.S. appeals court OK same-day registration, voting in Ohio

A federal appeals court panel has approved same-day registration and voting in Ohio, rejecting a Republican challenge.

The ruling, by the Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati, came a day after lower state and federal courts also blocked GOP efforts to either stop same-day registration and voting or require those ballots to be segregated and verified.

The Republicans argued that the inability to verify the registration of new voters who cast absentee ballots between today and Oct. 6 will lead to voter fraud.

Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner had instructed county election officials to segregate the same-day-registration ballots and verify them before counting them on Election Day, Nov. 4.

10. Jenny used to be a judge and is a national expert in election law
Even in front of Republican judges any case she sends to the court
has real merit and I am sure any lawyer working for her is top notch.

Hell she fired a crook from the Cuyahoga County BOE and head of
the state GOP and dared him to appeal his case in open court ...
because then he would have explain 2004 .... 25% of the vote
in Cleveland was "dumped" .... he walked away.

17. Bot, you can add another accomplishment to the list...
She stopped voting machine "sleepovers," during which the chain of custody for machines could be lost and bogus votes entered.

All hail the mighty Jennifer! :applause:

19. So many people have worked so hard for this the past 4 years, 2004 election reform forum
seems so long ago. North Carolina has come so far, too, taking a state that had almost as many ways to vote as there are counties to a state with only 3 ways to vote. I'm so proud of places like DU who didn't take 2004 sitting down and worked so hard to make things better. I was so happy when Ohio got a Dem SOS.

PS I canvassed in your neighborhood the other day. Not really, but close. One of the streets was named Botany and I'm happy to say the majority of the people I talked to are for our dem candidate.

23. Pre-voting?
I live in the Cleveland area and got a call tonight from the Obama campaign. The caller said that i should Pre-vote and that the the campaign was supporting this. Is this the same as absentee? I want my vote (and my wifes') to count on election day and not used as a tie-breaker. What is the best way to vote? Thank you.

On a side note: I may have been a little over enthusiastic with the caller.. I think I volunteered to help with the campaign.. They are going to call me back to let me know how I can help.. For eight years I've been the most apathetic cynical bastard I can think of and one phone call from Obama's staff washed away most of that negativity (He needs to win for me to totally return to normal). Didn't think I would ever volunteer for anything....Feels good to have some hope back.

25. My only real regret about leaving OH is that I didn't get to vote for Brunner first ...
had to move in Sept. before the elections, with that puke Blackwell still in charge. Glad to see she is doing fine without my vote!
