News from my town of 100,000 from my Mensa co-member Friend neighbor
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 09:11 PM by Ichingcarpenter

The town is 50/50 republican/democratic even on the city council...... Demographics are retired military, small business
and even those dependent on Vandenburg AFB.

She has worked and lived in this town all her life and just turned 40 and voted republican light
until 2004.

She works at a major car repair store in town and knows most of the locals and business
owners that send their fleets or cars in to get them repaired or serviced. So most of these are Republican light
or Democratic.

EVERYBODY SHE HAS TALK WITH THROUGH WORK IS SCARED TO DEATH OF PALIN AND THINK SHE IS AN IDIOT AND OR DANGEROUS AND THEY CAN'T STAND MCCAIN. THIS FINANCIAL CRISIS WAS THE FINAL DEATHBLOW TO MCCAIN.

They will either vote for Obama or not vote. She does have the pulse of this town.

The town voted 51% Kerry and 49% Bush in 2004
even her parents, who are life long republicans are voting for Obama.

GO OBAMA!

4. Well, We both live at the same condo unit an have an unemployed
plumber that is voting McCain cause he likes Sarah and his mother does too!

He's not registered and doesn't know how to register.

We are not telling him either.

The point about my Mensa friend, even though we differ politically
we respect each other. She does know this town.
I convinced her to vote for Kerry in 2004 on evidence.

We have a crappy conservative newspaper and CBS and the Fox local station are owned
by the same family. We didn't get high speed internet until 2004 for half of the town.
but now the town is more wired and more informed.

She rates higher than me in Mensa... I'm at the very bottom of the heap.

2. they probably know that they wouldn't see their
loved ones for another 4-8 years. So many military families just can't take this anymore and they shouldn't have to.

3. Good news, but we can't let up because situations change (October Surprise tapes from OBL, etc.).
The financial recovery plan will be passed by Friday. That means by next week, McCain will be off the ropes.
Voters memories are short. Let's hope they remember and that Team Obama keeps reminding them of what
a fuck-up McCain/Palin would be for the nation.

5. Agree....... just reporting in.... on one of those personal
field reports on what's happening in this local area.

In 2004 bumper stickers were 50/50
now I only see Obama stickers and no yard signs for McCain.

Whereas before, the local neighborhood in 2004 were loaded with both sides

10. What about your...
mangled sentence construction?

Most people I know in MENSA can put an English sentence together correctly.

9. With due respect, and just out of curiosity
What does the Mensa flavoring add to or detract from this story?

Not to hijack the thread.

I do believe it will be Obama in a landslide that may include AZ.

From what I understand, the foreclosure crisis has hit SM very hard.
