Does This Look Like 12,000 To You? (((PICS)))
The AP says there were 12,000 people at this Obama rally in Reno, today. I think that estimate is far too low. Here are some pics:

10. That was my guess. Looks like the same sized crowd
McCain had at the Villages, and that was 30,000 (though the repukes claimed it was twice that).

2. There are more people than at the 60,000 Palin rally
OK, there were not 60,000 people in Florida. No Way, No How, No Palin!

3. Ok...explain this then...
We have seen pictures like this since he started running. Huge crowds, football stadiums packed to the gunnel's.

How the heck can this race be as close as it is?

How?

I just don't get it.

6. It's not close
But you knew that.

The "horse race" scenario is a media myth, enhanced by imperfect polling.

15. Yet
We trusted the polls in 2000 & 2994 when they said our Candidates actually won.

We used the polls to show the machines had stolen the elections.

The polls were fine when they suited our purpose and off now?

That doesn't pass the smell test.

16. I have never trusted polls
As for the 2000 election, my belief that the vote was stolen was based on the actual votes reported and the crappy SCOTUS decision.

When it came to 2004, all I had to do was watch the film footage of people waiting in line for hours in Ohio, to know the vote was stolen.

My belief that the vote was stolen was never based on pols.

7. Because the people that are following this campaign so much that they show up to campaign events
are not a random sample of the general electorate. In 2004, 120 million+ people voted.

8. I'm certainly not demeaning Obama's ability to attract crowd, but
do you realize that even 60,000 people in a large city is relatively small when compared to the total population of that city and it's surrounding areas? I am very suspect of the poll results for a lot of different reasons, but I don't think you can judge national support by very large crowds in certain areas.

11. Reno, Nevada has a population of 210,255
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 07:30 PM by blogslut
EDIT ADD: Correction

My hometown runs in the 200,000 population range. If 12,000 or more people showed up for a political rally, that would be a big, damned thing.

18. Even with Caribou Barbie Grandpa can't come close to the crowds we get.
I am in my 50's and I cannot remember crowds like this. Maybe Kennedy in retrospect but that's it.

17. Couldn't organizers give a numbered card to every person as they walk in
That way they could prove how many are there.

I'd like them to do that just once, then ask the PTB for a crowd estimate. WRONG, SUCKA!!!
