when are early votes counted?
I can vote early in Ohio, which I may do since there's a chance I'll be out of town on election day...

does my vote get added in as the starting point on election day, or is it an afterthought, only counted if things are close?

since votes are fairly fungible (thanks sarah) it doesn't exactly matter, but I'm just curious

1. On election night, after the polls close
Depending on local practice, early votes can be counted with the days' results, or just before/after the big batch.

2. early votes count as a precinct and are counted when other precincts are counted
it may vary by state, so I can't actually speak for Ohio. In Florida, they come in first.

4. Do it!
Beat the rush and the long lines.

And grab all of your friends while you're at it.
