8. Great
Hopefully she will lose. That way she doesn't have to be bothered with coming to NC anymore. I know it is just so hard for her to come here.

12. Here's the silver lining about Wachovia being gobbled up by Citigroup. Republicans will be blamed.
Charlotte, NC must be gripped by fear. This town was formerly untouched by the housing bubble as it had
the greatest year-to-year appreciation of home values in the country until now.

13. Charlotte IS gripped with fear
No gas to be found anywhere, thousands of layoffs coming, the Wachovia tower to possibly not be finished....all very bad news this week.

Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 07:13 PM by ClarkUSA
The alternative is unthinkable. I know Team Obama is burning rubber in the state and this tragedy will only make them
work harder to win over undecideds. Are you volunteering in Charlotte? I hope so.

21. Charlotte has been the Repub Stronghold in NC Elections Past....
The tanking of Wachovia and the coming job layoffs are putting a serious dent in the Repub brand given that the last 8 years of Bush brought us to this point --and workers know it.

I see NC going Blue this election cycle....

23. Went for Kerry in 2004
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 08:12 AM by GreenInNC
Mecklenburg was one of the few counties that went for Kerry in 2004. We have a majority Dem City Council, majority Dem County Commish, majority Dem School Board, 4 of the 7 towns in Meck have Dem mayors. Easley (Dem Gov candidate)got 59% in 2004 and hometown boy Richard Vinroot (Rep Gov candidate) only got 51% in 2000.

I would hope that 2004 turned the corner for Democratic voting in Charlotte.

28. interested in your reasoning
I would be interested to hear the facts behind your asertation. Clinton won meck in '92 and '96 and Bush only got 51% in '00. Gantt beat Helms both times here. We have held the Charlotte City Council for as long as I remember and the County Commish was only Repub for a couple of years.

31. Charlotte? Republican?
Harvey Gantt.

I think the commenter meant it is a business town. But it's also quite liberal, in a straitlaced way. I mean, Swann v. Board put CLT at the front of school integration. And since then...
