Ohio GOP upset about today's State Supreme Court Ruling on Voting...
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 06:21 PM by Doityourself
Judge, high court OK voters registering and voting absentee at once

A U.S. District Judge and the Ohio Supreme Court ruled Monday morning that Ohio voters do not have to wait 30 days after registering before they can cast absentee ballots.

Judge James Gwin issued a temporary restraining order against Madison County, which had taken the position that absentee ballots could not be distributed until 30 days after registering.

The plaintiffs, which include a group called Project Vote, claimed the 30-day qualification violated federal law.

Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner had opposed attempts to restrict absentee voting. The decision was apparently an easy one for Gwin.

"Candidly, the underlying merits of issues are not even close," he wrote in his 22-page opinion and order. "With regard to the interpretation of Ohio law, Defendant Brunner obviously determined the issue correctly."

Saw some republicans on TV having a fit, saying it will increase voter fraud.

1. It is a spoiler for Republican fraud
as in voter registrations ending up in the trash when the office co-workers run to the bathroom...I mean, you CANNOT keep your eye on them all the time...they can get to the shredder when you are not looking

5. How does this ruling prevent that?

6. Well, if your voter registration disappears, and you show up to vote on election day
you are screwed because you are not on the rolls.

If you can register and VOTE the same day, your vote is still there...makes it a lot less likely that will happen

Picture it
