Ralph: Daddy I'm too scared even to wet my pants.
Chief Wiggum: Just relax Ralphie and it'll come.

Ralph: "What's a battle?"
Sup. Int. Chalmers: "Did that boy just ask what's a battle?"
Princ. Skinner: "No, no! He said what's that rattle!"

36. Not sure about that -- it's a pretty big lead. Let's not get greedy or set ourselves up.
We should be happy if it stays this way, especially after the bailout plan is passed and the economic crisis eases in the public
mind. Republicans are planning a major distraction as we speak: Osama bin Laden tapes, Palin teenage wedding extravaganza,
some foreign policy crisis that will favor McCain, etc.

163. Exactly, let's not get
too carried away here yet. Remember, five weeks is a lifetime in politics and anything can happen within that time. Remember, also, that it was just a few short weeks ago that McSame was ahead in almost all of the polls. Granted, that was largely due to the "Palin honeymoon" which is now all but over, even for many formerly enthusiastic conservative pundits (such as Kathleen Parker), but it still doesn't mean that something won't happen where he'll be back up in the polls as well.

54. I'm disappointed it's not 90-10
Americans have shit for brains, to be blunt.

I've spent my entire adult life in a state of disbelief. But the end of suburbia is very near. The party is almost over. And at that point reality will be king. Until then, commute 100 miles each way, deny global warming, breed, vote for whomever helps your business, and just consume with no limit in sight.

Sorry. I can't help myself. I wanted a society that had vision.

I may not be intelligent, but I'm bright. I just can't not see. I grew up around an abundance of common sense. Not many are as lucky as I. But it's painful. Hey, Vonnegut died unhappy. And so did Hunter Thompson. Not that I'm in that league. But maybe parts of me are. Haha.

Just like they put Obama way up today, since the control the polls and the MSM, they can turn on him tomorrow.

46. He can still lose...
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 09:57 AM by LiberadorHugo
The social liberal and social democratic (at the time...Now they're their neo-lib fucks) Parti Liberal du Quebec won the popular vote by 7 points and lost the election by 6 seats to the rightist Union Nationale in the eelction of 1966. At the time, the Liberal stronghold of Montreal had 40% of Quebec's population and 20% of its seats. The Liberals are responsible for their downfall for failing to rectify this problem in the six years they had been in power.

60. Okay, now I'm getting greedy. I want a fucking landslide.
We need to keep up our A-game! Don't get complacent. I don't know if this is true but it sounds true--apparently when the race isn't close, voter turnout goes down so we really need to emphasize that despite what the polls say before Election Day, get out and vote for Barack Obama!!!!

Seriously, I doubt that McCain can make up that much pointage even with a swingback in the polling numbers.

74. Awful lot of posts for a misread poll. It's 50-42 (yesterday). Today's isn't out. That being said..
... the Gallup Daily Tracking Poll IS likely to go up more today, based on such a strong post-debate day that raised it from a 5-pt to an 8-pt lead so quickly. Chances are Sunday's polling results (to be factored into today's average) will still be pretty high and Obama's 3-day average lead may go up more (I'd guess to 9 or 10, but not 12).

http://www.gallup.com/tag/Gallup%2bDaily.aspx

Keep an eye on it. Usually updated ~ 1:00-2:00 Eastern.

BTW, MSNBC has been notoriously late in updating their ticker. They ran Saturday's result (5-pt lead) ALL DAY Sunday, many hours after the Sunday poll (8-pt lead) was released... but still under the heading "Latest Gallup Poll". They need to hire somebody new to write their ticker.

I just checked the gallup poll and he is ahead 49 to 34! Woo Hoo!!!!

I do agree, there sure were alot of posts for two transposed numbers. It is kind of funny when you think about it, since so many people here are checking the polls regularly (or compulsively if you are like me) and a URL here and there could have ended many ongoing discussion. "I think it might be this" or "I think it might be that" It is not as thought Gallup is difficult to find. :)

122. LANDSLIDE
No one should be surprised. Everything is in place for a
landslide. National polls have had a tough time figuring out
the scope and dimension of newly registered voters. That is
now being reflected in State Polls and crossing into the
National Polls.

One need only look at the crowds that Obama/Biden are drawing.
Tens of thousands! When McCain speaks, the walk away.

187. Early voting--stay clear of Diebold machines
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 04:15 PM by Peggesis1
Here in Ohio we are pushing hard to get as many voters as possible to the polls early. Early voting in Ohio starts today--and NO DIEBOLD MACHINES! If your state has early voting, use that method to cast your vote. Let's try to keep this one from getting stolen.

136. Why are you falling for this?
This is simply to get you used to watching and BELIEVING the Polls.

By the time we get to the last week of October the Polls will show Grampy and Obama tied.

Then when they steal the election it will seem plausible to you.

142. I would be excited and encouraged too, except that
I honestly believe that the MSM are perpetrating a massive "wag the dog" campaign on the American people...

Sort of like the tobacco companies that fooled around with the nicotine levels in cigarettes to keep people "hooked" on their products.

I dunno...I just get this really icky feeling inside that the American public is getting played like a violin by these evil bastards....that we're all just puppets for their amusement.

Even if they're not consciously manipulating the polls, or the results, I still think they're getting off on making us all dance to whatever tune they play.

He said he heard it on MSNBC. We get that you go and look at Gallup and they show polls from yesterday. Hint: They don't update until 1pm. If you're new to this board, don't be new in life. Alright? Thanks.

155. You are wrong and can't admit it - even the day before was 50-42!!
You're just plain 100% wrong!!

Do you have issues admitting when you are wrong??

Sunday: 50-42

Monday (the day this was posted): 50-42

Tuesday (today): not released yet

So, even is she reported numbers a day old, they STILL would have been 50-42!!

157. do you honestly not get it
He said he heard it on TV that the "snapshot" was 52-40. He did not point to your link at gallup.com where you get the old number. Are you a newbie here or just a freeper in disguise? These polls hurt your feelings?

159. A dozen people have pointed out that the 52-40 never existed and "snapshot" was never mentioned
The original poster simply heard incorrectly or accidentally transposed the numbers in her head.

161. It's "disturbing" posting a correction to a deceptive poll that has people crowing "landslide!!!!"?
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 11:52 AM by HughMoran
I care more about seeing people deceived here than I do about being "annoying".

Truth is everything. I will not allow people to be deceived into thinking the lead is 30% bigger than it is.

We have a LOT of work left to do here. Stop taking my correction personally.

152. Florida was going for McCain slightly
Now it's tied. Pray that it comes out of the tie with Obama ahead. There's a great site that combines the polls and tells you how many electoral votes each has. It's updated daily. Right now, Obama 286 McCain 225! http://electoral-vote.com/
