Republican coworker.... decided after debate not to vote at all.
Okay, he's pretty die-hard. He said, when Palin was picked, "Better a soccer mom than an Anti-American", believes that Obama may not currently practice Islam but is still a Muslim even if he is also Christian and so he doesn't want him. Yeah, he's pretty stupid, but at least he doesn't like Scientology, so I can't call him a complete idiot. (Just most of the way.) Since he's not Christian my "Are you denying that Jesus can't save the soul of a Muslim?" line isn't effective.

After the debate, he said he was ashamed of McCain, but can't bring himself to vote for Obama. He discussed it with his wife, and said:

"I am not going to vote this year, I don't want to be accused of helping either one."

Hey.... sometimes the best vote you can ask from a person is not voting at all.

2. I know one like that.
With some people that's the best you can hope for.

There are some votes we will never ever get for Obama - better they stay home or vote for Baar (which is what I'm seeing some red Arizonans vow to do).

9. Yep, Arkansas. :)
Bentonville, actually.

VERY red county, although looking on OpenSecrets Hillary got more donations from WM employees than McCain or Huckabee.

We aren't a battleground -- if Hillary had been the Dem nominee we'd have went Dem most likely, but otherwise we just contribute to the national average and the popular vote.

But still.... I've been talking to a lot of Hillary supporters who are undecided now and none of them really like Palin insulting Hillary, and none of them are really all that fond of McCain. Arkansas is pretty conservative, has a strong history of racism (Central High, anyone?) and we have a lot of people who are hunters here. I think there may be only three or four abortion clinics in Arkansas, but 30 or 40 "Crisis Pregnancy Centers". A lot of people here consider themselves Democrats for state and local office, then vote Republican because of wedge issues.

We may not contribute much to the electoral college math, but any bit of ground is good.

8. That just drives me crazy......
... not the lack of voting, i'm fine with that (as opposed to voting for McCain, i'll take it.)

But the Muslim thing .... I mean if they want to call him a liberal or an economic socialist that's one thing, there's some basis in fact with that. IF they have a problem with his stance on abortion, that's fine. If they think he's too much of a celebrity, fine

BUT THE MUSLIM THING HAS NO BASIS IN FACT!!!! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

sigh ....... I just had to get that out, thank you for allowing me to vent. :)

10. I know three people in AZ who aren't voting, and we're better off because of it.
1. My idiotic racist roommate who hates black people. Thankfully he's getting kicked out, and not a moment too soon.

2. This Hispanic guy I work with who said if he voted, he'd vote McCain. He even knows the Republicans stole 2000 and that McCain supports torture. He admits I am far more knowledgeable about politics, but apparently that doesn't matter. He was insistent that McCain is better without really giving a reason.

Since he can't explain himself, I have to assume he's one of those Hispanics that won't vote for a black man (and yes, they do exist, sadly).

3. This libertarian I work with who is totally into Ron Paul. He's made up his mind that Obama is no good, and even though I have provided examples that Obama is more libertarian than McCain, he still won't vote this year - it was Paul or nobody for him.

However, the Paulbearer also thinks Switzerland is part of Scandinavia. :eyes:

So believe it or not, I'm grateful that these idiots aren't voting this year.
