Will Palin make a big gaffe that finishes her off?
I have a gut feeling that Sarah will do something real stupid before this is all done. She strikes me as the type to forget where she is and who she's addressing.

I can picture her dropping the F-bomb on national TV, or something like that.

Anyone else feel this way?

13. You are absolutely right, but something that even shocks her RW base.
like vulgar language or a racial epithet, for instance.

Something that she can't clarify or back-pedal away from.

I think she's capable of screwing up BIG time

33. I really doubt that will happen. She has that mealy-mouthed self-righteous,
fundie Christian chick schtick down too well for that. She will continue to make an ass of herself in the eyes of any rational person, but will keep sending out the right waves to all the born-again pod people, and will retain a 25% base to the bitter end.

7. I have a feeling she won't be as bad as the Katie Couric interview.
Which will make her look better, though still woefully unqualified for national office.

20. But the Couric interview is a walk in the park...
...compared to a ninety-minute debate, where she actually has to know what she's talking
about. A debate requires that you have depth of knowledge.

Plus, the back and forth between Palin and Biden will make her look so bad--compared to Biden.

People think he's going to look like a know it all. I totally disagree. Biden is so charming
and affable. He won't look mean or insensitive. He has a very calm, steady and gracious way about
him. I think he'll look like a stellar, seasoned foreign-policy expert and she'll be so lost
and even further flustered--because of how she knows she looks next to Biden.

She's just way out of her league. The Couric interview is nothing compared to the rigors of
a 90 minute debate--especially when you don't know what in the hell you're talking about.

I can't wait to see what happens...

9. Just her general inability to speak will do her in.
She can't form an intelligent sentence. She can't not sound like a high school junior at her first debating class. She can't use big words. We'll see what her training wheels will do for her at the debate. Maybe she'll surprise us, but the fact that she supports all the McBush stands for will probably do her in first.

She'll do okay with the rehearsed answers, but if Gwen asks her anything she's not prepared for, or asks for follow up questions, she's toast. She'll have to repeat her answer verbatim as she did three times with Gibson (Israel) and twice with Couric (Rick Davis)

She has no clue what our country is facing - no real understanding other than the 'answers' she's been told. She has no understanding of anything.

Edit: typo.

sort of like that "asshole" comment Dim Son made about a NYT reporter. That wasn't a gaffe, however, he knew exactly what he was doing. Evil librul media!

Not sure what impact a major Palin gaffe would have on the so-called indies and dumbass undecideds. I'm hoping it would push her over the edge, but hope springs eternal...

more of the same..but don't see it finishing her off.

She'll remain on the ticket unless direct, overwhelming evidence of criminal activity. Removing her is more damaging to the ticket than keeping her without overwhelming cause.

She probably has a strong sympathy vote among the fundies. Not sure if McZombie will be able to give that up.

You can definitely bluff your way through a rehearsed speech at the Convention, where
you're reading off of a teleprompter.

You can somewhat fake it through interviews, after you've memorized some sound bytes.

However, there's no way in hell you can make it through a 90 minute debate with a seasoned
foreign-policy expert--without looking like a complete idiotic, blustering fool.

Guy--I seriously do not know how she will make it through those 90 minutes.

The only way she has a prayer, is if she goes totally on the attack--and rips into Obama and Biden.
If she can throw out a few incendiary and personal attacks, every time she talks--that's the only
way she can make it through. I'm not saying that strategy would work. However, it might detract
a bit from the fact that she knows nothing and is dumber than a stick.

It will be very interesting to watch. I'm watching for the comedic value, alone.

19. She might, but
Most of the right wing nut cases will never see it, and will keep on praising her as the greats thing that has ever happened to the republican party! All the right wing zealots want is someone who will push their religious agenda on the country if they are put in charge, and the odds of McCain getting through is first term without some kind of major problem with his health, are why they want her as the VP!

21. Noone really takes her seriosly now. Anything that she says or does at the debate
(and I do believe that she'll say some incredibly stupid things at the debate) will just serve to dig her in deeper and reinforce the opinion that people already have of her.

The debate will be a prime spot for it. 90 minutes of intense scrutiny on live national television when you're already considered something of a joke is not going to help matters. lol

26. I doubt it - Repugs have muscled the format
into sound bite segments. Don't know it there will even be any follow up queries.

Sound bites are the perfect size for alphabetically sorted index cards by topic.

Meanwhile Joe will just be getting started when the buzzer goes off.

The perfect format to frustrate Joe and make her look snappy and confident.

34. You hit the nail right on the head!
The sad and ironic thing is that all the criticizing of Palin now just lowers her expectations. We are doing the Republicans a HUGE favor by calling her idiotic. Even an idiot (as in George W) can parrot cue cards for two minute canned answers to questions, and answer it whether it really was the same question asked. There will be no followups, and Biden cannot challenge her. Them's the rules.

So what we are left with is some of us have contributed to the perception that she is a total idiot. Then she will parrot some stock answers. The viewers will see that and all they can think is she isn't as bad as they were expecting. Meanwhile, Biden can't really attack her for fear of looking sexist or worse still picking on poor defenseless Sara.

Sara did well in her debate in Alaska. We underestimate her at our peril. Have we friggin forgot the expectations game? You don't put down your opponent before the debate, you build her up. Then after the debate you knock her down. Rememeber? I think even Palin remembers that....

29. Sarah Palin has been nothing but a walking breathing gaffe so far
so if she makes a gaffe, it will be accepted by the media and passed off as nervousness, she is held to such a low level. Her being so accepted despite her outright stupidity is part of what makes her so revolting.
