Clueless McCain strategists... push for Bristol Palin's wedding
before the election - reportedly because it would get great coverage for a week!

First, there was recently a president's daughter who was married, and no one paid attention.

Second, it as if they think that a teenage shot-gun wedding - would garner the same kind of public interest of - say Princess Diana's wedding back in the early '80s. A week of coverage - all media and photogs in Wasilla...

Really?

I feel so badly for this girl. She did not ask for her life to become part of a political football hail mary pass.

If true (not the wedding, but the McCain people pushing for it as a great political show and bounce bringer), then they are once again drastically misreading the public. They can't get it out of their minds that the public still falls for their form of non-reality based perception management (the old we create reality and you then write about it).

My bet is that the a lot of the public would feel the same sort of sorrow I feel for these two young people - and a whole lot of disgust for the campaign. While others in the public would be angry at the farce of it all - making running for president, ala running to run the country - into one big old Jerry Springer show.

To read the item I am referencing - go to Washingtonmonthly.org and scroll down to the item "The Last Hail Mary Pass".

(And while there read the just posted writeup on the bailout - you know the serious stuff that real campaigns ought to be wrestling with.)

6. back in January a colleague called him nuts,
I replied that may be (seems to be) true - but if the public doesn't recognize it... does it matter (per the election?)

Seems McSenile and his camp are intent in making sure that the public recognizes that he is batsh*t crazy.

8. Currently they recognize it about 80.5% of the time. That's pretty good.

14. salin's predictor index:
signage or stickers for a repub presidential candidate in Indiana...

There are still a few Ron Paul placards to be seen in Indianapolis - but not a single McCain sign or sticker that I have seen in Indianapolis, or on the commute between Indy and Bloomington (very repub corridor before the pretty liberal b-ton).

Though Bton runs blue - there are always some diehard repubs who like to stick stuff up to stand out and sort of thumb their nose at the local libs. Not.this.time.

Barely more than a month before the election. Indiana is in play - with state GOP pundits predicting that Obama will win - and hoping for a (likely) split ticket for Gov (ugh Daniels).

If Indiana goes for Obama - it will be an electoral landslide.

21. I am trying to think of a big enough 'farce/parody' reference
for comparison to how the McCain campaign is coming off. The best I can come up with is the little known/watched but hilarious WB show 'Popular' that ran for a few years. It was a running parody of highschool soapopera shows like beverlyhills 90210.

24. I heard Palin is suing Saturday Night Live
She wants a writer credit for part of Tina Fey's opening skit from last night. When SNL posts a transcript, I will compare it with Palin's interview with Couric, but I am pretty sure that Fey started out line for line on the answer to the bailout question.

3. Sociopaths...
they don't give a good goddamn about how that poor girl feels. It's all about political expediency - that 'ends justify the means' mentality that allows these scumbags to justify any fucking thing their twisted minds can conceive.

The MSM and public seem to be on to him and are getting tired of it.

11. It is the most bizzarre campaign of my political memory.
They are working hard to make themselves and their party look like a cartoonish caricature.

16. Did you see the SNL debate sketch?
Where they had McCain keep proposing they suspend their campaigns and settle the election by pie-eating contest? They even had him say "That's what I call 'a stunt'".

He's become a joke. It's close to over.

17. What a horrible idea
This is such a disorganized, erratic campaign. They evidently will try anything.

That WAS rather odd that no one paid any attention to the Bush wedding.

20. I just can't imagine that Palin is going to have much of a political
career to return to when this trainwreck of a campaign is over.

A friend's initial reaction to her selection as VP was that no one else would agree to take it. Given how far into farce-land this campaign has gone, perhaps he is right. It is as if the campaign has veered off into PeeWee Herman's Playhouse.

26. A "shotgun wedding" as a happy show of family values?!
I wouldn't put it past them to exploit this if their focus groups indicate it'd help them, but GEEZ!!

Those poor teenagers -- I'm with you, this is a difficult thing to have used as a public display for politics.

and if they are - they need to fire whoever selects the members of the audience - as the McCain campaign ploys have been bricks.

That baby has become a trophy of disability to passed around. She has commercialized her own children.

29. Brought to you by a campaign that thought it was a Great Idea to
invite a Statutory Rapist to the Republican Convention and stand him up as a beacon to Redneckism and a fine example for American kids to mimic..

Dipshits..

You know the term "redneck" was not always Villified, it once stood for proud Unionizers, these dicks are not worthy of being called Rednecks..
