@@@ Advice You Would Give Obama for the Next Debate @@@
To help him sweep the floor with McTurd (I'm not cruel, but what a wonderful visual). :nuke:

There are many samrt people on this board with real-life advice. Imagine you had 5 uninterrupted minutes face-to-face with Obama. What would you say?

1. If I had 5 minutes with Obama, I would not use it to give him advice

I would use it to talk to him, learn a little about him one on one and let him know what i care about.

i would not give him political advice with my 5 minutes. i really don't think my judgement on political strategy is better than his cadre of advisors or Obama's own shrewd judgement.

5. I think we all have something relevant to say
There isn't one person in the world that is smarter than all of us combined, and I think Obama will be open to hearing other points of view. As a matter of fact, it is our duty as citizens to give advice.

2. I would't give him ANY! He & his advisors are doing just fine
without ME or any of you interfering! I'm impressed at how they've dealt with all the sh*t that's been thrown at them, and nothing stuck!

3. Tie McCain in more and more with Bush.
And use 'We all understand' and 'I understand that the Middle Class is hurting right now...' etc., a lot, in order to neutralize McCain's condescending, 'Obama doesn't understand...' BS. Also, I'd love him to say, 'I'm willing to look you straight in the eye, and tell you that you are wrong' to John McCain.

7. yes, I think he should bring up that "looking in the eye" thing
I don't want to have a president who wouldn't even look me in the eye.

8. Continue working to reduce the "ums and ahhs"
Stop agreeing with and validating the opponent and his positions.

Take advantage of the opportunities to point out the differences between McCain's current statements about who and what he is (many of which you know in advance that he's going to say) and his statements and actions on the record over the years.

Not rocket science really- just fundamentals that and high school forensics coach would point out.

9. Obama and his team clearly have things under control, but if I had the chance
I'd suggest the following:

*Pause after questions from moderators and give yourself a couple seconds to organize your thoughts so you don't come out sounding bumbling or rattled. A slight pause will add a note of confidence and will give you a chance to have your first words sound clear and resonant.

*When you tell McCain "that's not true," you need to say why. Many people in the audience will think you're just saying it's not true to say it. Give a concise answer of exactly why what he has stated is not true.

*Refute at any opportunity the notion that McCain has supported troops. This is something people believe without any doubt that he has done, but the truth is that he has a "D" rating and a "20%" approval from two veteran groups. He has voted against benefits, armor, and support for troops while at battle and when they return.

*Do not appeal to the moderator to move on with the topic when McCain isn't letting you get your words in. It lets McCain have the final say, and even if you're not conceding the point, it appears that you are. Tell the moderator that you must make your point if need be, or better, speak directly to McCain and tell him your thoughts. If you run over with time, so be it. Let the moderator stop the course of discussion, never end it yourself. This is a debate.

*Do not force any facial expressions. If something is so ridiculous or untrue that it makes you crack a smile or grin, so be it, but do not force smiles. They can be interpreted as making you look as if you're attempting to smile away the accusation. A stoic face is stronger and much more convincing to the viewer.

*

10. great and reasonable input
I agree with you on all of the above. See, we all have something important to say. Obama and his team are very capable, however, they sometimes need a different angle and we should offer it freely.

11. Pledge to veto HR 1022 and S.2237 reinstating the AWB & sign HR 6842 giving DC 2nd Amendment Rights.
That will convince 80 million gun-owners in an electorate of over 215 million that he really means what he says when he promises to protect citizens Second Amendment rights.
