1. I agree
Rather than come across as compassionate and welcoming, they look mean spirited and nasty. Way to go GOP!

2. yep! big mistake to leave it all up to dumbya tomorrow
He's banking on the bells and whistles of his unusual entrance and podium to make a splash. If that's all he's got...that ain't much. Buh bye junior!

11. Compassion Conservatism......Hiding under hate somewhere?
Don't think those moderates aren't cringing too. They want the country back on track. Look at what has gone wrong. Bandaids with purple hearts, Crazy Zell, Alan Keyes out damming Cheney's daughter to hell off stage, Bush saying the war was unwinnable right off the bat, the Bushie twins telling off color jokes (to conservatives and mentioning hamsters dying) Ahnnnie calling poor people without a job girlie men. Pro Choice, Anti - Gun speakers. Laura sayin George has not changed since the day she met him..Does that mean he is still drunk and doping? Cheney proudly saying his daughter is gay knowing Bush and Falwell is having a fit, John McCain wanting to hurt someone on Letterman, Zell challenged Chris to a duel. I don't think its gone well at all and they had a problem with Teresa Heinz Kerry saying Shove it to a rag that was not even a real paper.

3. They have way way overdone this 9/11 thing
to the point of madness. Even the faithful have to be saying enough is enough.

5. They're compassionate!
Compassion is special code for "black," remember?

And the Republicans are definitely black.

6. Both yesterday and today would turn off the undecideds
First the ditzy twins and stepford wife. Then today rage and insanity.

These are not things that would attract undecideds.

9. Actually, I don't
they KNOW that the networks aren't covering it much, and that most Americans aren't following it. The people watching are political junkies whose views won't be changed by the convention.

They are stirring up their base - which is their only hope of winning. They KNOW they can't convince new voters to support them, so they need to make sure the hard-core pubbies get out and vote.

This is why this election will be dirtier and nastier than any other in recent history - generally candidates need to run to the center to win. This is not true for Bush - there is no center for him to gain anymore. He has to activate the far-right.

I've been thinking about that meaner than ever label for this election. What do we expect? The meanest, nastiest, most perverse residency in 228 yrs.. It HAS to be !!! What a marvel to be a spectator of this atrocity.

Can we have some sanity over here, please?

10. But Leni Riefenstahl would have loved it.
Is Dubya going to be a uniter or a divider tomorrow? Will KKKarl decide they went too far, or will he tell Shrub to continue to play entirely to their freeper Waffen-SS base and start frothing like Der Fuehrer?

Stay tuned.

12. They've given up on swing voters.
They either think they have enough hardline pugs to win with high turnout or they plan to rig the election. They aren't trying to attract swing voters, they are trying to depress turnout by independents and Democrats and fire up their base. In that perspective, the night was a total success.

17. I bet moderate Repub. officials in some swing states will be dreading
his visit(s). Depending on how the next month plays out, (Iraq, the Israeli spy thing, debates, etc.) politicians could be committing political hari-kari backing *. Wouldn't it be cool if some crossed party lines? And I don't see why some couldn't. Zell's defection really gives them carte blanche to do so.

19. This is the worst Repug Convention I've ever seen
All they can do is spread more Fear and Smear.

I think the American people are getting really tired of this crap.

Big mistake to make a whole night devoted to bashing Kerry. Looks like it's backfiring already.

Can't wait for tomorrow, when Bu$h rises from the dead, excuse me, floor. I hope the stage breaks about half way up, leaving his head in a cloud of dry ice. Even if the stage works, I think it will definitely be a 'jump the shark' moment.

20. About the only way it could have gone worse for the GOP
would have been to have Alan Keyes shoot Mary Cheney on camera...

There's nothing like the sight of bitter old white guys ranting at a angry white mob to warm the hearts of soccer moms, minorities and undecided voters (snicker).

21. YES!!! And a DEMOCRAT, Zell Miller, helped nail the GOP coffin shut!!
I think that is one of the FUNNIEST things about last night's hate fest: Zell Miller, the DEMOCRAT that the repukes were SOOOOO proud to have in their camp, in his hate-filled, wild-eyed, lie-spewing sweet way just managed to turn off a great percentage of the swing voters, and at least half of the more moderate republican base...the part that still has half a brain.

The bad press coverage...what does a lot of it center on? Zell Miller. LOL!!!

:pals: He just FLOPPED the GOP convention!!! :pals:

Of course he didn't INTEND to do that, slimy turncoat that he is. But he certainly DID do it!

Oh, irony of ironies!!!

:kick::kick::kick::kick:
