Palin should step down, conservative commentator says

(CNN) – Prominent conservative columnist Kathleen Parker, an early supporter of Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin, said Friday recent interviews have shown the Alaska governor is "out of her league" and should leave the GOP presidential ticket for the good of the party.

The criticism in Parker's Friday column is the latest in a recent string of negative assessments toward the McCain-Palin candidacy from prominent conservatives.

It was fun while it lasted," Parker writes. "Palin’s recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who is clearly out of her league."

I was thinking about it this morning, and if Pailure is really going to duck out, this week will be a perfect chance, just before she is scheduled to appear in the debates.

If she doesn't step out this week, then she's in it until the end.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that her daughter has had some issue with her pregnancy and that she needs to return home to be with her family, or that she has had some personal issue that cannot be resolved on the campaign trail. The only problem with this is that Pailure has claimed her family is not a distraction in her ability to fulfill her position as VP and that suggesting otherwise is clearly sexist. She has herself in quite a small box right now.

After the Couric interview, it is now glaringly obvious that she has absolutely zero ability to even construct a cohesive sentence let alone to debate Joe Biden or another experienced politician. Her only options at this point are to walk into the lion's den and be eaten alive, or to bow out due to some serious family issue that she cannot ignore. Either way, she will be admitting utter failure, and McLiar will be left to yet again change the focus of his entire campaign, message, and focus.

The outs that McLiar et al have are increasingly shrinking in number. What will the Maverick do next?

I think a lot of us saw the video (parts of it shown on this youtube piece) where they said how Sarah had been a member until she became Mayor of Wasilla and then she had to step down.
Or why isn't anyone doing anything about this-her membership alone should disqualify her from being in office

about both VP candidates that's got me I guess. I know they are coming from other sources, but I just cannot imagine McCain admitting he made a mistake, and I don't think Obama even MADE one, so why would there be a change?

I mean, part of me would like nothing better than for Palin to go away, because it is, sadly, feasible that the idiot electorate will vote stupid again and she will be THIS CLOSE to the big red button. But the other part of me doesn't want that because she is such a collossally bad choice that she just looks worse all the time, which helps Obama.

Today (so far) you've got Parker saying she should step down, anonymous McCain staffers calling her 'clueless,' and Saint 9/11 on the Failplane going to the debate while Palin 'watches with friends.'

Something is up. McCain's last hail Mary was intercepted, so he needs another, even bigger one. It's entirely conceivable that Palin could step down on the day of the VP debate, which would clear the way for Rudy to step in.
