M$NBC pulls ad on McCain's health after Faux's O'Reilly complains
MSNBC Refusing To Run Outside Group's Ad Questioning McCain's Health
By Greg Sargent - September 26, 2008, 2:28PM

MSNBC has notified an independent group running an ad questioning John McCain's health that it will no longer air the spot, only 12 hours after Fox's Bill O'Reilly attacked NBC's corporate bosses on the air over the ad, the group tells me.

The spot, which has been running on MSNBC since yesterday, is the work of Brave New PAC and Democracy For America, which is headed up by Howard Dean's brother. It demands that McCain release his medical records and quotes doctors saying that McCain's age and bouts with cancer should raise concern, with one saying that another round of cancer would "profoundly impact his capacity to lead."

MSNBC informed the ad buyer for the two PACS today at around noon eastern time that the network was yanking the spot, Brave New PAC spokesperson Leighton Woodhouse tells me. The network said that the reason for their decision was "viewer complaints," Woodhouse says.

The spot is hard hitting, controversial, and goes where few others will go -- the Obama campaign was quick to point out that it has nothing to do with the spot. But it isn't hate speech, and MSNBC didn't question the ad's accuracy, Woodhouse claims.

MSNBC's decision comes after Bill O'Reilly unleashed an on-air tirade over the ad last night, saying the ad was put out by "two despicable human beings," a reference to Dean and Robert Greenwald of Brave New Films.

4. The American people have a legitimate right to know about McSame's health.
If by a freak of nature (or more election fraud) McSame gets in the White House, anything that happens to him puts that nit wit Palin in charge. Before long, she'll have mandatory Moose hunting in America, and all women will be required to wear their hair up like Palin does.

McSame's health must not be good, or else they would release the report to stop all discussion about it.

5. So this is in poor taste?
I guess that it is okay to put up ads defaming a true war hero and trying to humiliate him. John Kerry deserves the same exact respect that McCain gets. This is so damn ridiculous.:banghead: :grr:

7. It ran long enough for all MSNBC viewers to see it. I doubt they would have run it much longer.
Everyone knows McCain's REAL running mate...

8. Know what? The whole galaxy and beyond know about McCain's cancer remission.....
Of course reports of a candidate's health must be divulged and kept current before the voting public.

But attack ads? Along with negatives about his military service there may be more sympathy aroused for a candidate and his running mate who should never be allowed near the White House.

10. I didn't consider this an attack; a question was asked about
McCain's health records and why he won't release them. I think, given the position he seeks, his health should be investigated.

14. People don't know it is RECURRENT MELANOMA, and with a Christian Fundamentalist VP
just waiting for God's will to put her in the White House, the question is a serious one we need to think about.

9. I Don't Have A Problem With This
Obama will have to denounce it, even though his campaign had nothing to do with it, nor would he have run anything like it.

12. There was absolutely nothing untrue in that ad! Is O'Reilly ashamed of McPanic for having cancer???
does he want to hide McPanic's medical records too?

a 72 year old man who's had cancer 4 times had damn well better have a rock solid VP pick if he's going to run for president. Brainles Palin is not presidential material if McPanic keals over.. that is what this ad is about.

Apparently, O'Reilly can't handle the truth. He goes livid when the curtains are pulled back and the smoke clears.

16. But they run every negative ad about a Democrat - no matter how dirty or untrue.
And many times they air the shit that the Republickers have "pulled," so they're airing it for free. :nuke:

18. Notice none of McCain's camp mentioned the ad. They don't want to make a big deal of it.
The question is why?

20. This MIGHT be a good thing (DUCKING), Hear me out: the ad got talked about LOTS yesterday.
I'm sure the m$m played it a couple of times in editorial spots. The message got out even if the ad is completely discontinued.

The campaign can safely distance themselves from this but the message is out there--and it's a VERY effective one.
