Palin is a narrow-minded SNOB: I went to college, worked hard my whole life,
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 09:52 AM by npincus
My mommy and daddy didn't give me a backpack and passport when I graduated, I have always supported myself but in SPITE of that, have had a desire to see what other countries look like, see how other people live. Call it curiousity. Anything wrong with that, Sarah? I've done as much traveling as my time and finiances allowed and paid for it myself, from the money I earned. I am not part of "that culture"- to quote Palin, who fairly oozed with contempt when she said it.

She seems to look down on people who have passports, and have traveled to other places, as though they are all lazy and spoiled, while she is one of the GOOD people, who worked INSTEAD.

Newsflash Sarah: You can study, work hard AND have a passport!

http://2lesbosgoinatit.wordpress.com/2008/09/26/watch-read-sarah-palin-katie-couric-day-2-25th-interview-transcript-video/
Couric: In preparing for this conversation, a lot of our viewers … and Internet users wanted to know why you did not get a passport until last year. And they wondered if that indicated a lack of interest and curiosity in the world.

Palin: I’m not one of those who maybe came from a background of, you know, kids who perhaps graduate college and their parents give them a passport and give them a backpack and say go off and travel the world.

No, I’ve worked all my life. In fact, I usually had two jobs all my life until I had kids. I was not a part of, I guess, that culture.
The way that I have understood the world is through education, through books, through mediums that have provided me a lot of perspective on the world.

4. We were shouting at the TV about that.
I worked at a FAST FOOD CHAIN while going to college (from which I graduated in 4 years) to pay for my ticket to Europe when I was 18. Stupid woman.

7. She Shares the Cult of Personality Stereotypes of those...
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 09:43 AM by fascisthunter
they have contempt with and it has nothing to do with the reasons they give. I used to hear this type of crap from those I knew growing up in regards to going to college.

"Don't do it.... they'll brainwash you into a snob!"
"College students are spoiled!"
"Blah, blah, blah... I don't know what he fuck I'm talking about."

9. Didn't even cross her mind that some people join organizations to volunteer overseas and help
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 09:49 AM by kikiek
the poor, some have won scholarships, through hard work and ACADEMIC excellence, to attend overseas schools. There are many other ways people see the world before their mid forties. Her world is so very small. That is becoming more painfully obvious each day. She should have stayed there.

10. She 'worked two jobs...' What?
I don't remember seeing all those 'jobs' on her resume
that the party trotted out at the debut of her veepiness...

Tell us more about those jobs, sweetie...

Waitress at Joe's Bar and Grill?
Line worker at the salmon factory?
Avon Lady?

And what's this about 'education and books..'?
Is it the George Bush kinda book club to which you belong?
What are you reading now?
I saw some kinda interview where she was asked about
her favorite author: her response: "C.S. Lewis... kinda deep stuff."
But which ones? Or did you see the movie?

She's simply mouthing talking points, in her own inimitable way.

13. What a fucking self-centered, narcissistic asshole.
I'm surprised she doesn't implode under the weight of her own self-importance. Like a black hole, she sucks all of the light, and intelligence out of a room. For Gods sake, the woman was a vapid "beauty queen". What have we become when people this stupid are allowed to occupy leadership positions? Next we'll be allowing dump-truck drivers to perform brain surgery.

14. It is called Intellectual Curiosity...
And it's something neither Palin nor Bush have. Seeing the world was my dream, even as the daughter of a construction worker and a housewife. My husband and I used our savings as a young married couple, and went to see what was beyond 'Merica. This is insulting, it's reverse snobbery: if you aren't as ignorant and uninterested as me, then you aren't a good person.

16. I call it the "Townie/Gownie" syndrome.
Placing blame for her lack of interest in other cultures on people who DO have a desire to expand their scope - I have never seen such contempt. SOB.

19. My closest neighbor is an Assembly of God Pastor
He and his wife are new (+/- 9 mths)to the small town.

Work is scarce here and I provide him some work such as mowing my lawn and cutting brush and firewood on my property.

He is a friendly sort and so am I, but he is as uninformed (rather misinformed), dishonest, and dumber than a box of rocks.

The first time he tried to "evangelize" me, I let him know I was aware of the beliefs of his sect and said IMO it was Satanic in spirit and gave him the "Love the sinner, despise the sin line". He flat out told me his church was not part of the AOG but I pointed out that his church is on the AOG national website.

He is dangerously mis-informed about the world and believes in the endtimes prophecies, 6000 yr old earth, everything ugly about Islam, and all that. He thinks one can get a better education at Bethany Bible College (him) than two degrees from UC Berkeley (me).

I was taken aback of Palin being a VPOTUS candidate and he is thrilled but has been avoiding having much conversation me recently. lololol
