Huckabee: "McCain Made A Huge Mistake"
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said Thursday that Sen. John McCain made a "huge mistake" by even discussing canceling the presidential debate with Sen. Barack Obama.

Huckabee said Thursday in Mobile that the people need to hear both candidates. He said that’s "far better than heading to Washington" to huddle with senators.

Huckabee said he still backs McCain’s candidacy, but said the Arizona senator should not have put his campaign on hold to deal with the financial crisis on Wall Street. He said a president must be prepared to "deal with the unexpected."

"You can’t just say, ‘World stop for a moment. I’m going to cancel everything,"‘ Huckabee said.

1. Huckabee has a point...
This debate stunt will almost certainly be McLame's equivalent to his joke about Obama being assassinated.

3. I am REALLY glad that Republicans were too stupid to nominate Huckabee....

He would've been REALLY tough to beat.

He's smart... folksy.... EASY TO LIKE.

Even if you disagree with 100% of his positions... he's easy to like.

The GOP fucked up by not nominating him... and McCain fucked up by not making him VP.

Thank God the GOP is stupid.

8. At the same time.
McCain did have a lot of political capital among moderates and even liberals until a very short time ago. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Totally abhor his positions, but man, he's got a quick wit, and even some of my dem friends say he is a likeable person. Bullet dodged.

12. Never would have happened.
Even though he's a fundie, Huckabee is pretty moderate on economic issues.

The 'base' demanded someone like Palin, who is a right wing extremist across the board.

13. They ridiculed him and said he was a hick
oh the irony. You just can't get more hick than Palin.

And why is she still wearing 4 inch heels? What an embarrassment.

20. Totally agree
I was terrified he would win. Did you hear his speech at the RNC? It was nutty of course, but perversly inspiring ala Reagan. No personal attacks on Obama at all.

23. Agre completely.
they were afraid of their base in the primaries. Yet they had their best days right after palins selection a clear run to the base.

Course Huck says things that get him in trouble so I am not sure the outcome would have been different in the end but I am sure they are regretting their choice at this point.

25. I agree, I am not into his policy but I admire his character
Even when he made that dumbass non-joke about Obama
he called Obama and Apologize. He didn't do the obnoxious thing and say "It was a joke good grief"

His policies scare me, but I respect him

Now John McCain
Wow that is one simple ass man

Like Ted Bundy. But at least he's charming, which is more than McCain's got going for him.

27. Agreed. He was hilarious on SNL.
Even though I disagree with his positions on just about everything, he's affable. That means a lot when you're running for president. McCain, on the other hand, is the grumpy old great uncle living in the nursing home who smells kind of funny-- the one you really don't look forward to visiting because he's just going to yell at you, whether he remembers who you are or not. The one who, if you're female, offers you a quarter if you give him a kiss on the cheek, and keeps looking at you kind of funny. (shudder)

before waking up and speaking out against their own.

14. I don't like Huckabee, but I respect him. More than what I can say for McFuck-for-brains
Heck, any of the repukes (except for Tancredo and Duncan Hunter) would have been better than this jackass they nominated.

I don't think any of them would have been dumb enough to pick Palin.

And I'm sure that none of them would have been willing to sabotage the economy the way he's doing.

19. Any American with at least one foot in the reality-based world (& I think Huck qualifies there),...
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 10:11 AM by Fly by night
... has to realize the peril that our country is in at this pre-election moment, when one of the two major political parties (hint: not ours) is running a bungling and irascible old fool and a bobble-headed beauty queen.

No American who cares at all for the future of our country and the survival of the planet wants to put us one irritable heart-beat away from President Lip-Sticked Moose (in the headlights).

Thank you, Huckabee. This is one of those moments when we must all truly put country first and work together to keep McSuspender and "In what respect?" Palin as far away from OUR White House (and its assorted buttons) as we can.

Today, I am hauling water to my house (hot water heater problems), but thankful that I can. (I have a large and faithful spring not 150 feet from my front porch.) These days, I'm glad to have the basics covered. At least, until the votes are counted. Hopefully, not for long thereafter.

Either way, a country boy will survive.

32. Huckabee must not have gotten his talking points.
McCain's move was a cynical political tactic from the get-go and never had anything to do with actually solving the economic crisis. McCain didn't even suspend his campaign like he said he would. Huckabee must be out of the loop.
