Election 08 landslide
I may be wrong but I believe Mc Cain has come to the reality that he will ultimately lose this election. He and Palin are at the point that most everything they do harms their campaign. The whole charade of campaign suspension and putting off the debate are just face saving damage control. You heard it here first, Mc Cain knows he has lost and these tactics are just efforts to keep election from becoming a landslide Obama victory. The more that Mc Cain or Palin answer tough questions the more they look inferior to Obama. They will now both revert to a shielded campaign just to keep their base support intact so the election will not be a complete blowout.

1. Either that, or they're sure they will win because of vote stealing
I would love to see a landslide, but McCain's missteps are no reason for us to stop fighting tooth and nail for every single vote.

2. I believe you're right...
I believe now the GOP is trying to lessen two disastrous outcomes:

1) The takeover of Congress with huge Democratic numbers. If the Dems can add more members to both the House and Senate, then the neo-cons agenda can be overturned and squashed.

2) The impending investigations into 9/11, Iraq war, Katrina, Election Fraud, etc. etc. etc. The GOP knows that with a Dem White House, solid Dem House & Senate, Dem governorships, etc., their days are numbered with real investigations into these events, resulting in criminal prosecutions, and they will be reduced, rightfully so, to a mere shadow of their former selves.

It's gone far beyond McCain/Palin; now their facing the survival of their species...

4. That's my point.
They running for their political lives now and Bush is just wanting not be investigated by the next administration. The thing to watch out for now is Mc Cain to be thrown completely under the bus by his own party and the media. If this happens most likely Obama has cut a deal with Bush to not investigate the crimes of the Bush administration.

6. Let's not get too cocky
Remember that a week ago it felt like the sky was falling for Obama. A lot can change in a week...things look good right now but they could easily shift back again.

7. Yep yep...
Hagan, Merkley, and Franken are all polling well and I think they're bellweathers: If none wins, McCain a modest chance at an upset. At least one win is a sign of an assured Obama victory, two a landslide, and three will put us into Reagan or LBJ territory.
