there was so much racism and homophobia it was actually really affirming and refreshing to see- it's good to have a url to refer people to now when they say the country is beyond such prejudices.

They are also horribly sexist against their own VP candidate, they don't show her the respect of calling her Governor, or even by her last name. She is "sweet Sarah", "my sarah", "our sarah", and most of the posts about her comment mainly on her physical appearance. How incredibly offensive for a woman as accomplished as Governor Palin to be reduced to freeper pinup girl status.

Really though, it's all good- it means we're not crazy, racism, sexism, and homophobia is still alive and rampant in the right wing and we need to protect the country from it.

I would prefer not to see these things. I did a google the other day of images and came across one of the most racist ones that can be made. I have not mentioned it here or anywhere else because just seeing it made me feel sick and guilty from even focusing my eyes on it.

Once upon a time ago, within my living memory, freepers would have been persona non grata in the GOP. Their support would not have been sought, appreciated, or even exploited should they somehow stumble into the party. They would have been immediately recognized as a batch of extremist "true believers", and they would have been forced to form their own fringe party if they wanted to play politics with the adults.

Bad things have happened to the Republican Party. Very bad things.

No mystery, I suppose, why even Nixon's daughter is an Obama supporter.

And later on I was inbetween and just voted for the person and not the party. Now the republicans like this scare me, and those that deny this is even happening scare me even more. Without those in denial, these idiots could not stay in power. :grr:

33. I'm a reformed republican too, the religious right moved in and

a lot of us were fed up. It has become a party of racists, xenophobes, and pimps of corporate welfare.

I'm still pretty fiscally conservative, and I don't think I'm alone- I think the party has lost a lot of support especially in recent years and they are in for a shock on election day.

(As an aside, the turning point for ME was when B. Clinton won his first term. I was unhappy about it until a few months into his presidency it became obvious this man could actually make stuff happen, hell even when he was completely under fire by the right wing- being chased through courts and special investigations. He still managed to whittle the deficit down and turn it into a surplus, keep us safe, grow our technologies, and leave this nation in better shape than before he took over. 92 was the last time I voted republican. I don't see how ANY thinking human being could compare 8 yrs of Clinton vs 8 yrs of Bush and not see the blatant, blinding, complete undeniable failure of a republican ticket vs a democrat.)
