SLANDER!!!

Man - that is quite irksome...

Jimi would have never endorsed this shit...

Brooks and Dunn opened their set with a Hendrix-like Star Spangled Banner...

9. That's so excellent
I was not aware Jimi served and is a vet. My respect for him just went up a lot of notches. And it was already maxed out.

10.  101st Airborne Paratrooper at Fort Campbell
Got out after hurting his back on a jump. Then started working the "Chitlin Circuit" around 1965 with Little Richard among others. Found his way to NYC and the rest is history.

For a brief period, Jimi Hendrix was a member of the 101st Airborne - and received a medical discharge in 1962

http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/Jimi-Hendrix

After playing with several local Seattle bands, Hendrix enlisted in the Army, joining the 101st Airborne Division (stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, about fifty miles from Nashville, Tennessee) as a trainee paratrooper. He served less than a year and received a medical discharge after breaking his ankle on his 26th parachute jump.

Hendrix, who had volunteered for service in the Vietnam War, never saw action, but his recordings would become favorites of soldiers fighting there.

8. In Florida they call it "The NASCAR Blues"
I think it's Brooks & Dunn's lame attempt to upset "Sweet Home Alabama" as the Southern national Anthem. :)
