It sucks that DU cannot revel in one of the lowest Republican treacheries ever
On the long list of times Republicans in the House have sought to destroy America in the service of an ideology of petulance, threatening to scuttle the bail-out is fairly high up.
But since their position is closer to the DU stance (on average) than are the views of our candidates and party leaders there's barely a recognition of how dastardly their behavior this week has been.
Wing-nuts put ideology over real-world effects. That is how we got deregulated in the first place!
(And please don't anybody try to say the revised bill is a whole different thing. It's the same basic idea with some political cover added. I support the revised bill because I generally supported the underlying idea of the legislative outline. If I objected to the bail-out on conceptual grounds the revisions wouldn't change my mind.)
