it's not the financial crisis that is sinking McCain/Palin, it's her love affair

Dave Letterman had it right on his show... the whole thing smells. For the sake of argument, if McCain was sooo necessary to clean up the financial crisis, Palin should be able to step up to the plate, as his second string quarterback, and run the show. Theoretically, she should be propped up and the campaign continues.

People are going to ask why a candidate who was campaigning on abstinence could not keep her legs closed. And why, if sex is not so important, was John Edwards forced to shutdown his campaign?

Ergo, the distraction. I think they are going to use the financial crisis to hide the fact that Palin had an affair. Suspend the campaign and then restart it at the last minute and see if they can do damage control.
