My totally right wing next door neighbor just told us he's voting for Obama!
I'm amazed four years ago he and my husband almost came to blows arguing about Bush-Kerry.

He will run out of health benefits at the end of next month- his wife works part time and has no benefits. his son just graduated from college and has a 'shit-ass" job with no benefits and his daughter is a senior in high school. He doesn't know how he will get health insurance for anyone if he doesn't get a job soon, much less pay for college.

He said "we just need a total complete change"

I am just blown away. If he's voting for Obama,. I actually feel some hope.

2. Wow. See if you can get him to contribute even a couple bucks to the campaign.
It really seals the deal if someone has made an investment in a certain outcome.

7. No - he is hurting
Really. That is his motivation that and the health insurance issue- he can't afford Cobra and he's not a kid- he's 60 ish so he is really in genuine trouble. Add the high cost of living in NY, the high cost of heating the home and he's in pain.

9. The GOP actually thought they could just deny all this and it would go away...
...once they realized that the American people had had enough of the status quo, they quickly switched gears and tried, in vain, to steal the banner of change. Most people know they are responsible for most of this crap. You can't have a lobbyist on your payroll who gets paid large sums of money by the very firms we are bailing out and not have the American people call bullshit when you say you want to change it.

The Republicans have gotten away with this for too long. "Global warming, baloney...it's just a liberal scare tactic." "Economy in trouble, yeah things are rocky but our economy is fundamentally sound." How can they, with a straight face, and after cheerleading the economy for the last 8 years, now pull back and say "Yeah that is a problem, but we know how to fix it." What? You mean the problem you have completely denied for the last 2 1/2 years as it has loomed ever larger on the horizon?

The problem for them is, they want to show off a pretty float and the American people are looking for a reliable ride to work.
