Dear Senators Obama and Biden: do not talk about raising taxes
too many voters have a short attention span and they will not wait to hear the rest: only on families with more than $250K.

Talk about the tax cuts that you will propose; about assuring health care to all; about better education and dignified retirement; about the greedy Wall Street CEOs who still collect their golden parachutes and bonuses while their companies are going down.

If someone wants details, then provide them.

You are not dealing with thinking men and women who really want to know. You are dealing with sound bytes.

Thanks you.

1. If you saw sixty minutes that is exactly how Obama responded when
steve kraft told him his plan would raise taxes

Obama said, it would reduced taxes for 95% of the people

3. However, the headline a few days ago was, Biden says paying taxes is patriotic
which was of course a distortion of what he said

The OP makes an excellent point, that we should first focus on the 95% of the people getting tax cuts

4. Thanks. Did not watch the program -
was not going to wait for the game to end - but, how many voters still watch "60 minutes," a program that demands viewers to use the space between their ears?

And if he did mention raising taxes, what would prevent Karl Rove and company to take that one sentence out of context?

As with the SNL skit yesterday, when "McCain" was not sure about the dirty "commercials" the person asked him: you want to win, don't you? And he would record: I am John McCain and I approve this message.

Never, never underestimate the stupidity of the American public.

Millions thought Bush was a war hero and Kerry was a draft dodger in 2004. There is no limit to the ridiculous statements about McCain or Obama that might be believed by millions. I could see a statment of "I would cut taxes for 95% of Americans and raise them on the top 3% of Americans" turned into "I would ... raise (taxes) on ... Americans" and believed by 30 million people as fact, when it would be sneaky GOP lies in reality.

6. They have to explain their plan - McCain keeps lying about it.
McCain keeps saying Obama will raise everyone's taxes - Obama and Biden have to tell the truth. I agree with keeping it - and everything actually - simple and in as few sentences as possible. Americans' attention spans are embarassingly short.
