Debate Softball for Palin is Perfect
Biden was facing a very difficult situation of having to expose Palin's lack of depth without creating sympathy for her in the process. This way, the ENTIRE WORLD is learning that even her own campaign knows she is in over her head, and Biden gets to demonstrate his knowledge while not getting stuck "picking on the every-day woman from Alaska."

In other words, we - and every talking head on our side of the fence - get to spend the next few weeks pointing out that Palin is so in over her head she had to request special treatment at the debate, and Biden can sidestep the sexism trap (and even be the "good guy" for agreeing to help her out).

It is the McCain camp that was played here. By the time the debate gets here, Palin will be an out-and-out joke for this, and the best part is the whole thing is happening at their request.

Obama and Biden are not stupid and neither are the people around them. They have proven this to us time and again. Look where they are right now when last week DU was a haven for armchair campaign managers certain our candidates were blowing it.

Have a little faith.

1. Only if the world knows this.
If she is critiqued as being a parrot then she will be ridiculed.

If she spouts memorized one liners in response to phrases, some will be as impressed as her convention speech.

I think Obama/Biden are going to regret this, as they have done when they are being nice.

3. The world knows, everytime they see her, the more the gut instinct kicks in
Thats why she is canceling appearances, there is no up, The convention was the peak for her and they know the more she actually talks the more people go wait a minute.

Joe doesnt have to ask her questions to be able to expose her, he just has to throw tweaks and jabs in his oratories and shell be stuck, her ego will scream say something, but she wont know what to, and she ll stay on message so tight and repetitive that it wont make sense just like like the Gibson interview.

EVERYONE IS GOING TO BE WATCHING, its like Nascar or Evil Knevil, they dont want to miss the crash, and a crash is what they will get.

2. 527s should do ads making it clear that McCain had the debate rules change. Other than that,
Biden can end up winning the VP debate by simply connecting with "the people" by talking about his hard times in his early life like he did in his CNN bio. He'll already prove he has command of the issues and will win over EVERYBODY when they learn who he is and what he's been through.

4. Time to raise those expectations for the little princess...
Don't let anyone tell you Palin is a weak debater - insist that she has time and again shocked the unaware with her razor sharp mind and vice-like grasp of facts. In fact no less than Bill Clinton himself admires her great political savvy.

with a straight face.

8. And of course
isn't that why Bill praised her?

5. My first thought was similar
This race is not about the VP. It's a distraction, and could be a bigger distraction, talked about endlessly by the gasbags. Marginalizing the VP debate takes the steam out of that.

Sarah Palin is self explanatory. Polls show she helps with the base, so they'll love her no matter what, indies and undecideds will see her for what she is/isn't. It's about the top of the ticket.

6. Doesn't the moderator ask the questions? How can Biden appear to be the one who is
attacking? He is not the one who has to have soft gloves..it is the moderator who will be in the position to baby her...or not.
