Identifying as Conservative instead of Republican - an observation:
I have noticed that many of the campaign signs in my small very red NC town do not list the person's party - they have "conservative" under their name. There is one using a small picture of an elephant though.

Seems they are really trying to distance themselves from their own party. I find it very amusing that in my heavily Republican town not many "Republicans" appear to be running.

1. That's been SOP here in Illinois for years.
Democrats say "Democratic" on just about every sign I've seen. But Republicans just say: <insert loser's name here> for <insert office here> The signs usually have a little more red on them than blue, but that's about it.

But then the GOP in Illinois is a total joke, lead by Judy Blah-Blah-Blah Topinka.
