About being "fair" to the other side
I see a thread about how perhaps McCain has Alzheimer's and I see responses saying essentially, that's not fair, accurate, etc.

Meanwhile, McCain's goons are spreading scurrilous and unfounded smears that Obama is a Muslim (even though he's not, and even though there's not a damned thing wrong with being Muslim...).

So here's my conclusion about this need to be "fair" or not jump to conclusions.

SCREW THAT.

They are not going to make a fool of me for having a sense of fairness. If they want to play fair, then I'm happy to say the McCain/Alzheimer's thing is unfounded, but they aren't playing that game. They want me to criticize that statement and they want to go under the radar and say more untrue things about Obama.

Forget it. I'm not stepping in to defend McCain. Obama was plenty willing to run a campaign that didn't engage in any of this sort of stuff, but he finds himself in the boxing ring with a guy throwing a chair at him.

If McCain wants to allow this sort of crap to be a part of his campaign, then he RIGHTLY should expect unfair attacks on him. I won't engage in them, but I won't lift a finger to stop them.

"Don't hit the bully, he's had a hard life" :wtf:

"Fair's got nothing to do with it".

5. Actually, it's "Deserve's got nothing' to do with it."
To borrow from another movie, The Karate Kid, I've been going with the Cobra Kai school of political fighting for some time now...

Kreese: What do we study here?
Karate Class: THE WAY OF THE FIST SIR.
Kreese: And what is that way?
Karate Class: STRIKE FIRST. STRIKE HARD. NO MERCY SIR.
Kreese: I can't hear you.
Karate Class: STRIKE FIRST. STRIKE HARD. NO MERCY SIR.

Kreese: We do not train to be merciful here. Mercy is for the weak. Here, in the streets, in competition: A man confronts you, he is the enemy. An enemy deserves no mercy.
Kreese: What is the problem Mr. Lawrence?

do whatever needs to be done to win this election.

there are no excuses. we cannot afford to take the high road. be smart, but don't be afraid to take risks.

4. I started a thread that related to McCain and signs of dementia
and here is my last response: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=7115316&mesg_id=7117425

Signs of dementia and diminishing mental capacity are entirely legitimate subjects to consider and judge someone who seeks the job of the President of the United States, especially in a man the age of John McCain who has displayed signs of early dementia. McCain does not deserve a pass on this and it has nothing to do with being "fair".
